Cinco De Mayo 2011

I don't know if I have ever officially celebrated Cinco De Mayo before so this year is a first. I went to my friend Erin and Rob's house and we made fish tacos and guacamole. I invited Adara another mid-single in my ward and we had a great time. Afterwards we went on a pleasant walk around a lake. Thank you Erin, Rob, Emily and Elliot for your hospitality! :)

crafty Keli

remember those cute bows I made with Emily? I taught Tessa how to make some one day when I was tending her.

Some more of Tessa's bows. She had a great time making them.

I made one and turned it into a necklace. it could also go in my hair too. I did not have a clasp for this necklace so I just hot glued it together...pretty innovative right?

Royal Wedding Party

In April 2011, Prince William married Kate Middleton. Elaine had a "Royal Wedding Party" and it was an EVENT. There was a huge picture of William and Kate hanging up. Elaine also borrowed a projector from someone. She made mini-cupcakes that looked like Kates's ring and Ann Micka came and made coronation chicken. Which was delightful. People came dressed in all their finery. Elaine really outdid herself for this event...I am so grateful I have such creative talented friends!

Easter 2011

Happy Easter 2011 from Clay and Keli
This year our ward meets at ONE PM!!!!!! that was hard on Easter Sunday because when do you have your Easter dinner or go to an Easter dinner??? I figured it out though :) I went to church and we had a beautiful Easter program the choir did a GREAT JOB..we also had a potluck that day.. which I thought was ridiculous...like um...it is EASTER... lets have a potluck a DIFFERENT DAY.. Clay signed up to bring a ham to I helped him with that.. just thinking about it makes me want a  piece of ham..yum..! I also spilled ham juice on my new Easter dress..so I kinda smelled like ham too....so we had a nice time at the potluck then Clay and I drove to my friend Kelly's house in Woodbridge, VA her sister has a HUGE Easter brunch every Easter and Kelly was nice enough to invite Clay and myself. By the time we got there the only people left were some of Kelly's family a few of her sisters friends and Rich. Clay, Kelly, Rich and I had a nice time chatting on the deck the weather was very nice. I am so grateful for the Savior and my testimony of the gospel. I am also grateful for my friends. Thank you so much for making my Easter so special :) ...all though next year I hope that the Easter Bunny comes...

church stuff

So when I lived in Lewiston, Utah I was in the nursery. I loved it..Then things happened and... I was not in the nursery then I moved to VA and I am in the Oak Marr ward and GUESS what my first calling was.. THE NURSERY... I was REALLY ANNOYED!!!! like I DO THIS ALL WEEK!!!  I don't want to do this ON SUNDAY!!!!! but I got over pouting and ... I LOVED IT!!! I LOVE the adults I worked with in there and consider them some of my best friends in the ward. I got to give the lessons the WHOLE month of March 2011 and that went great. I also did the singing time..that was SO MUCH FUN! we would sing a church song and then a fun song...the kids got REALLY into this song called "froggy in the middle" where I would hold their hands and they would "jump" and I would sing "froggy in the middle and he can't get out.. he cant get out..he can't get out..froggy in the middle and he can't get out ..till he hops to another froggy..." I would say she if it was a girl of course..the kids LOVED THIS SONG...they would all request it and RUN to be he next froggy..it was SO CUTE. I fell in love with all the kids in their and I wish that I had pictures of all of them but they were running around and playing and having fun :) I got released in May 2011 and I am now on a RS committee I have no idea what I will do on that...since I have not even got called to go to a meeting yet..but soon right? soon..
This is the day I had my "Utah Look" Bethany L. on my lap, Avery J. then Evvie D. and Eliannah K.

It's EVVIE!!!! is this little girl CUTE OR WHAT??? and I love that dress this is my home teacher Matt's daughter Evvie!! she is SO CUTE!!! seriously...

crafty Keli

While I was stalking blogs one day...(I wish someone would stalk mine and see how COOL I AM..but anyway I digress.. I found this cute easy craft project. You take some leftover fabric sitting around your house..I know you have some don't lie.. and then trace a cup or something that is a circle..cut four of those circles out fold each circle into little triangles THEN the fun REALLY begins you put a little bit of felt on the back.. I know you have some of that at your house too.. then get a barrette.. ( I bought some at CVS) and you can do WHaTEVER... put it on a headband..a necklace ( you will see that post soon) a lapel, a purse a shoe..whatever...here is what I did..
I put mine on a headband..in this picture you can see how cute it looks I have worn it TONS of times and because it has a barrette.. I could take it OFF the headband and do whatever..I am wearing a shirt I got at a thrift store for VERY CHEAP from Old Navy BTW that goes with...everything..

Emily got a barrette..:)

Elliot age approx: 5 months in this picture did not get one..because he is a BOY...

Emily tell everyone HOW MUCH YOU LOVE WHEN I COME OVER AND MAKE CRAFTS WITH YOU!!!!..:)

No really she DOES!!! I think she got a frown and a smile mixed up. Emily age 2 with her barrette.. a VERY CUTE GOOD LITTLE GIRL!!!!

so there you go Emily and I crafting together in April 2011.

field trip

The boys call this statue "The Arlington Statue"  this one was made OUT OF LEGOS!!!
Over Spring Break April 2011, I took Zorig and Buuvei to The Quantico Marine Corps Museum in Triangle, VA..THIS PLACE IS FREE!!! and It is one of the COOLEST museums I have EVER been too.. so YOU NEED TO GO!!..They gave the boys a scavenger hunt to find different things in the museum..the cool things was that the scavenger hunt also led us through the museum.. they had to find different things from the pictures on the Scavenger Hunt. The boys had SO MUCH FUN DOING THAT! When they were done they got a stamp and a marine tatoo. When we went in the pretended they were enlisting. There was even a fake marine sargent to scream at you. There were lots of interactive stations for the boys to do different things. We were able to watch a movie where we felt like we were in a jungle and when the weapons went off.. we got puffs of air in our face. We went through area's where it was hot..area's where it was cold..Zorig got scared a couple times like "Is this real?" Buuvei was the opposite he wanted to climb on everything..There were a couple of field trips there for some jr. high kids that were NOT on spring break..They kept saying "your kids are so cute" and "look at those CUTE LITTLE BOYS!!!" all the people that worked there kept saying" YOUR KIDS ARE SO WELL BEHAVED!!" I had to keep saying no I am their nanny but this is a HUGE COMPLIMENT FOR ME...because that says to me that ONE DAY ... I will have kids and people will say that to me..that MY kids are so well behaved...Zorig liked seeing all the wounded men mannequins he said "my dad would save him" that is what my dad does he SAVES people" we watched another video with Bugs Bunny in it..they like that and we watched other videos one was about who was involved with WW2. Zorig said at the end of it THAT IS NOT COOL THAT MONGOLIA DID NOT HELP!!! the jr high kids were like "he is so smart"!! so we had a GREAT DAY THERE!!! here are some of the pictures that downloaded the others I will put on FB at some point..

Zorig and Buuvei outside the museum..we got there RIGHT AFTER it opened..
CIVIL WAR BUUVEI!!!! is the cutest thing ever or WHAT????

ww1 Buuvei again SO FREAKIN CUTE!!!

Buuvei on the playground outside the museum
we had a picnic and ate lunch at the play ground. It was a really fun day :) Zorig is such an extrovert that he made lots of friends there :) Buuvei just had fun playing on all the equiptment

field trip/spring break 2011

I had a very eventful Spring Break 2011. One day I took Angela Roundy's children Nicholas and Jocelyn to Clara Barton's house in Glen Echo, MD. It was spring and the flowers were blooming and it was a overcast yet beautiful day. Clara Barton's house is HUGE!!! way back when Glen Echo was an amusement park and they built her house there since  she was somewhat of a celebrity so she would attract more visitors. Clara worked her whole life with the red cross and many other endeavors. She is one of my hero's.
The tours are given on the hour so we had a little bit of a wait. I had the kids pose for some pictures. Here is Nicholas.

Here is Jocelyn

Nicholas asked if he could climb this wall. I said no but he did pose for this picture.

Nicholas is a model in this picture! we were practicing poses.

Jocelyn became a Jr. Ranger she got a certificate and a badge. The park ranger wrapped her arm up like Clara would have during the civil war.

after our tour we took a walk and Jocelyn climbed on this bridge.

Jocelyn looking over the bridge at the water below.
so that was our day. I found out that all though many people have sat up their equiptment there the house is not haunted. The Obama's have not been there and no famous men back then went because. Clara was a single woman and that would have been innappropriate. I also got TWO magnets a Clara Barton one. and a GW Parkway one.

stuff

Elaine had a going away party for a girl named Melanie that moved to France in April 2011. The theme was French/American foods. So there were things like little smokies and things like brie. One of the most popular things there though had to be these mustache cookies on a stick! They were yummy too:) I attended the party with Clay ( and Dave Allen and another guy in my ward Kevin A. that was looking for something to do. I brought some french bread per request of Elaine. We stopped by the Giant in Arlington and Clay asked me if there was a theme and I said French/American. Clay managed in the time it took me to get two loaves of french bread to get "french onion sun chips" and some sort of yummy drink that was a product of France. ...OK I am impressed Clay has a creative streak in him for sure.. ! I hope that The State Department is utilizing that...The party was nice...but I have to admit I was very close to being done with one of the Twilight books so I went off into Elaine's roommates room to read some of it...when I came back there was one girl one Clay's lap and one girl sitting beside him LADIES LOVE THE COOL CLAY!!! The other memorable thing about the party was there was the CUTEST BABY THERE...she was the niece of the girl leaving for France..so cute! I am so grateful for my super nice, super creative friends :)
love ya' all:)

stuff

I got this dog cupcake for Spike at a place in Old Town Alexandria called "Bittersweet" I thought "Hey I can do this!" make dog cupcakes!!! another one of my MANY ideas that I COULD do but not by myself.. but I know that I COULD make some for Spike by myself. I will have to do that when I get better. As for selling them.. I would need a partner in crime and I am still trying to find one of those. BUT I now have a goal to make some dog cupcakes when I am better...and when my mom actually has a kitchen :)

field Trip

In April 2011, I went and toured the Lee-Fendall House in Old Town Alexandria, with Carrie, Shawna and one of Carrie's friends from her ward.
This was a dining room all set up. some relatives of Robert E. Lee lived here and then later the Fendall's lived here. Woodrow Wilson once dined here.

When I was a little girl I loved cradles, I had a couple and they were full of my baby dolls.

I want this couch! it doesn't seem very functional. But it would be FABULOUS to take pictures on

see that little glass thing...it is a MOUSE TRAP???? I am so confused like do I jus throw away glass and all... ??? do they die in there... do I shake them out.???

They had this AMAZING doll house there!!! I always wanted a dollhouse when I was little but had to be content to play with my cousin Mary Houston and Elizabeth's.

here I am posing on the stairs on the way out.

I am still wondering what would happen if I stepped through those doors..but one thing is for certain I AM NOT going to be tempted by Turkish Delight...cause that stuff is GROSS!!!

here we all are: Carrie's friend, Keli, Shawna, and Carrie.

It was raining that day REALLY hard and our tour guide seemed like she was in a big hurry. I was not about to get a magnet because she said that they "don't know where they would put a gift shop" all though they had several empty rooms. There was an episode of ghost hunters where they checked it out and determined it was not haunted I don't really believe that because it was used as a civil war hospital. I am glad that I went and it looked like they had some fun stuff to involve kids if kids went so I would go back.
