Keli crafts

Craft day in Lewiston,Utah with Taylor,Kortnie and Janessa
June 2013

As I said in my last post, I loved to do cooking and crafting with my friends in Lewiston,Utah.. I came up with "paper bag books" I took several lunch size paper bags.. that the local market gave me for free..and then we punched holes in them and tied them together with twine.
Rachael had a TON of scrapbook paper that she brought over.. because FACT every woman of a "certain age" has a stash of scrapbook paper.. so the girls decorated their books with paper and embellishments  and stickers.. Kathy had a Cricut and we cut out their names and other things..I had the girls write different things about themselves.. and what they liked and what they believed in.. and I had them write their testimonies.. all the girls wrote really cute things! It turned out really fun... Rachael's son's played downstairs and when they were done.. they came and Johnny said "we missed everything!" hahahah I might need to include the boys next time!..

Again I am grateful for Kathy for letting me use her house.. and being so nice to let me have a craft day there ..
I am grateful for Rachael for coming over with all her supplies and letting us use them..
I am grateful for Jorge, for playing video games.. so he had a bored wife and Carla got to come over and hang out with us! :)

and I am also grateful to Taylor and Kortnie and Janessa for being such nice young ladies.. till next time girls!!

Keli cooks

While I was in Lewiston,Utah something I really wanted to do was hang out and just spend time with my friends.. When I lived there I used to have people over or go to my friends houses and we would do cooking and or craft projects.. Kathy was nice enough to let me have people over to do this and to help me with the project that I chose.

Megan and Melissa and had asked if we could do a "cooking project" and I looked and looked on Pinterest..but I could not find just the right one.. THEN I remembered I had always wanted to make these apple pies in a jar that I saw on "Our Best Bites" .

Kathy is SO AMAZiNG..she had jars there that she let us use.. she had pie dough ALL READY MADE that we just needed to unfreeze and use.. I got some apple pie filling at Theurers ( the local market) and we were good to go..

Kathy showed us how to roll out the dough and how to put it in the jars and press it up on the sides and how to make the top look cute.

We baked them in the oven and when they came out ..YUMMY!!!

I posted this picture on FB and my friend Patty said "you came all the way to Utah to make pies in a jar? "

OF COURSE I DID!!!! and I would do it again too.. OK maybe another project but I hope to have another craft/cooking day the next time I am in Utah..

I am so grateful for Kathy for her kindness with ALL she did for me when I was in Utah.. I could have NEVER completed this project if it were not for her.. SHE IS ONE AMAZING WOMAN!!!

maybe one day I can emulate her..

Beautiful Keli!

I always get my hair cut when I go to Utah.. I went in with blond hair and bangs and came out with this hair cut!!! Mandy also waxed my eyebrows and gave me glitter toes!!

while I was there I got to hang out with Mandy's daughter's Dakota and Cedar.. her son Ridge was around too.
a lot of people have asked "why I cut my hair?" or "how I decided to do it.." I was watching the show "Lost Girl" this is one of the main characters, Kenzi, I love her style.. so I wanted my hair this dark.. I wanted a streak too. but Mandy said " I was too old for a streak" .. and well...she is probably right..So I had the dark hair idea down..

I was also watching Arrested Development season 4 and I saw this hair cut on Lindsay Bluth.. I WANTED THIS HAIR CUT..!

so I combined my dark hair idea and my hair cut idea and came up with my idea..now it is two months later and I need to do something to it again..

PS: the only person that I told that I was going to do this to my hair was Ralph and he said "he did not care what I did with my hair.. that it was basically my choice.. cut it..dye it... whatever.. hair is hair and it grows back.. which basically makes Ralph the coolest guy in the world..

Keli Travels

I went to church on Sunday at the Lewiston 3rd ward..It meets at 9 AM or maybe 9:30 same difference.. I can barely make it to church by 11:00 AM...

BUT something that I forgot.. church there is only less than a five minute drive.. that sure is nice ..

It was nice to see all the people that remembered me and I am glad that I went.

I invited tons of people over to Kathy's for the bonfire that we were going to have that night.

When I got back to Kathy's after church she said "how many people did you invite..?" then I realized that including children.. I had invited around FORTY!!??

I did not buy enough hot dogs for all those people.. and well even if I WAS going to break the Sabbath.. I would have had to borrowed someone's car and drove like twenty or thirty minutes or so..

So I just started walking down the street to borrow hot dogs from a neighbor..

the previous day, I had seen this little newborn horse at Mike and Lizzy Smith's house so I went there and asked if I could
1. take pictures of the horse..
2. borrow some hot dogs..

they said yes to both.. two of their four children Dax and Addy were outside playing so they showed me around .. Dax showed me the sheep that him and his sister Ellie are going to show for 4H..

and they told me all about their lives..

They were very nice kids..

Now that I had extra hot dogs and I had taken pictures of that cute little horse..

I went back to Kathy's to relax and then to get ready.. because we were going to have people over in a few hours...

I also got so busy that I never paid Lizzy back for the hot dogs.. I need to do that soon!

Keli Travels

After my session at the Brigham City Temple, My friend Kathy's son Dan and his new wife Tara and their baby Emma came picked me up. I was lucky that they were driving through on the way to Cache Valley. I am so lucky to know the Bright family.. I am grateful for Dan and his wife for picking me up and so grateful to see Kathy... seeing Kathy makes me so happy ... just so happy I can barely put it into words I love that woman.. and she makes me feel like I am home.. and that.. is a great feeling..

We drove into Logan,Utah and met Kathy at The Tandoori Oven which is an Indian restaurant in a gas station.. like you can walk out of the restaurant right into the gas station.. which is also a convenience store.. pretty nifty..

THE FOOD WE GOT THERE WAS DELICIOUS!!!! and it was a nice conversation..

http://www.tandooriovenlogan.com/

After that Kathy was nice enough to let me stop by DownEast.. I swear DownEast gets me every time...you think...wow.. I can't believe this is THIS cheap and it looks like something they sell at J.Crew or some other store that is WAY more expensive.. then you realize that it IS that cheap.. I bought a cheap ring there that I broke the next day .. just trying to get it off the package.. and I got a dress there in their "flea market section" they had a big tent set up outside with all sorts of stuff.. that dress doesn't fit me right.. I don't know what is up with it..but SOMETHING...

but I did get a cool skirt there...

I mean for all the FAILS they have it is worth it to go there because every now and then you find some cute stuff there that actually fits and lasts..here is a link

http://www.downeastbasics.com/

after that we went and got some food because the next night I was going to have people over to Kathy's house for a bonfire dinner...

by that time I was SO EXHAUSTED.. I could barely think...

and where was ALL THE ORGANIC STUFF!??? Kathy was like all this stuff is organic.. I was like BUT IT DOESN'T SAY?? and she was like CACHE VALLEY BUTTER IS ORGANIC...is it ?? IDK a lot of people up in Cache Valley think that organic stuff is a scam.. here is their website..http://www.cachevalleydairy.com/ maybe it is just a different part of the country.. I mean up there there are no LARGE pieces of paper with cute writing proclaiming ORGANIC and LOCAL!!!! and all this other stuff... lt just is.. and a lot of people just grow it or make it or raise it.. so I guess that is all good..

I did buy expensive hot dogs though..because well you are a fool if you don't...

after that we headed to Lewiston, Utah.. and you would think after that long day I would be done... but no.. I was not.. I had to start calling people and Kathy and I went over and toured my friends Marian and Vern's new house..

IT WAS SO GOOD TO SEE MARIAN AND VERN AND THE KIDS!!!! LOVE THAT FAMILY!!!!!! :)

then I went back to Kathy's and finally went to bed.. that was the end of a very long, but great day!!! :)

BIG shout out to Kathy for letting me stay at her house and for helping me stay on track when I was tired at the grocery store..it is a little different when the nearest grocery store is almost TWENTY minutes from your house..

BIG, BIG shout out.. to Dan and Tara and Emma for picking me up at the Brigham City Temple..

Keli Travels

me at the Brigham City, Utah Temple, June 2013
GUESS WHAT?

I have been to all the operating temples in Utah! -as of June 2013..

Here is the order I think that I attended them in ..

1. Provo, Utah
2. Mt. Timpanogos Utah
3. Salt Lake City, Utah
4. Logan, Utah
5. Jordan River, Utah
6. Manti, Utah
7. Bountiful, Utah
8. Vernal, Utah
9. Ogden,Utah
10. Monticello,Utah
11. St. George,Utah
12. Draper,Utah
13. Oquirrh Mountain,Utah
AND
14. BRIGHAM CITY,UTAH TEMPLE!!!!

ALL OF THEM..

ok word of advice, if I tell you that I went to all the temples in Utah.. DO NOT THEN ASK... "all of them are you SURE?"

that annoys me.. IDK why but it does??

do not have a follow -up question like ARE YOU SURE?? even Monticello?? even Vernal??... I said YES ALL OF THEM!!!!

It has been a LONG ROAD going to all these temples.. I am so grateful for EVERYONE that has helped me in this journey all the people that have went with me.. a few times I had to get hotel rooms they were that far from me.. and now I have to fly on a plane to get to them but I look forward to going to the next three that are under construction right now..

When I went to Utah in January 2012, my friend Kathy and I drove by the Brigham City, Utah temple and I was like WOW... it looked DONE.. but Kathy said that they were finishing up the inside..

I know that a lot of people were able to tour it while before it was dedicated and I hope that other people have been able to attend it.. IT IS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE .. lots of murals that IMO represent the local area..

I flew to Utah in June 2013.. I had a lot of things on my agenda but one of them was getting to the Brigham City, Utah temple.. I had NO IDEA how I was going to do that.. I called a few people and they said "that was too much for them in a day" ...so I called the airport and found a shuttle bus up to Brigham City...but then I would have to WALK over to the temple with ALL my luggage.. um that sounds a bit inconvenient ...

Then a miracle happened my wonderful friend Cindy said she would take me there it is an hour an 12 minutes one way from her house...( I just googled that) So I started looking for stuff that we could do so Cindy did not just feel like she was a chauffeur ...I found the Ogden Treehouse Childrens Museum and Cindy has a two year old and she was watching her roommates daughter that is in elementary school .. I have already wrote a post about that.. so you know that we really enjoyed ourselves there..

So after the museum.. we went out to eat.. I had an appointment at the Brigham City Temple and I did not want to go to a "sit down place" because I said it might take too long...

we might as well have gone to a sit down place.. because it took Taco Bell THAT long to serve us.. seriously I have NO IDEA what was going on.. I mean they said they were hiring but DANG.. you might want to TRAIN the people that you have working there that this is FAST FOOD... seriously...emphasis on the FAST part.. not so sure about the FOOD part.. I thought OMGOSH if I was this desperate for workers.. .I would be trying to hire ANYONE that walked in.. like "hey do you want a JOB!!!??" seriously we waited like 15 or 20 minutes I am serious...

So then we drove to the temple and I got out and realized .. I have ALL MY LUGGAGE.. and it was not really PACKED it was just kinda thrown in bags and stuff and stuff was sticking out.. so we got all that together and I had called the temple in advance and they said that I could store all my luggage at the front desk while I went through a session..

YAY that was SO NICE!!!!!

So I went in and I had my friend Danielle Gauthier's grandma Charlotte's name with me .. and I asked if I could do initiatories .. they said yes.. that was beautiful.. and I was able to walk right in..

then I went in the chapel to wait for my session it is a small temple.. I know it does not look it but it is.. and you have to make an appointment and my session  was PACKED... they asked me where my little wood block is.. I said I did not have one.. I guess with all the hubbub of me bringing all my luggage in and then doing initiatories they forgot to give me this little wood block where the time of my session is on it.. at first they were like ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE IN THIS SESSION?? IS YOUR NAME ON A LIST??? DID YOU CALL???

I said yes..I am 100% sure.. it was so crowded maybe they want to MAKE SURE that everyone that IS SCHEDULED gets in there.. well I KNOW I was scheduled so I got in there..

session was great.. LOVED IT.. the celestial room was tiny but BEAUTIFUL.. I looked around and was like "oh this is it" but sometimes that is all you need...

great spiritual time.. SO GLAD that I am worthy and able to do this.. so happy that I got to do the work for my friend Danielle's grandma...

HOW FREAKING COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

again I am SO GRATEFUL that my wonderful friend Cindy was able to take me to the temple! that was SO nice of her!!!!
so grateful that I was able to store my luggage there..
so grateful that even though Taco Bell was SLOW I was able to get through and get to the temple on time.
so grateful my friend Danielle let me take her grandma's name through the temple even though Danielle is not LDS.
so grateful that I was able to do initiatories even though I was not scheduled..
so grateful that I was able to get in my session even with out a little wood block
so grateful that YEARS ago I bought clothes and was able to go to this temple which does not rent clothes..

I don't want to sound cliche...but "I am seriously SO BLESSED!!!!!!
