Keli explores

In August 2014, Margret, her son Thomas and me went on some walks around the neighborhood in Oakton, VA

One of them was so short that it was pointless. It was also so flooded that day ( it was raining ) that the trail had a current!

The other one we walked around a lake, Timber Lake in Oakton.
 doesn't this gazebo look spooky.

I never think of gazebos when I think of spooky.

Margret, Spike and me in the gazebo.

 Spike and me :)

Keli eats

On Sunday night, in August 2014.I had my friends Jenny Ellen and Tonya over to celebrate Jenny Ellen's birthday early.

Tonya did a great job making the salads!

We had hamburgers, hot dogs, mac and cheese, and Duff Gordon's Zebra cake.

I don't have a picture of the zebra cake because it just came out OK.

Beautiful Keli

The other night (in August 2014) I tried this avocado and honey hair mask. I found it on Buzzfeed under two ingredient DIY's. It came from this blog http://www.prettygossip.com/2013/05/30/homemade-moisturizing-hair-treatment-mask/

My friend Tonya helped me put it on.

I covered my head in plastic wrap and left it on about 15 minutes or so.

I do not have that much hair, but what I do have felt so soft!

In August 2014, I had to go into DC. I left work in Herndon, VA and went over to the Reston station. It sometimes felt like this would never, ever open. It was surreal growing up here and going to Reston countless times to get on the metro there.

Even more surreal is the fact that the founder of Reston the person that designed and planned the whole town is still alive! He is 100. He was able to see and maybe even ride the metro from the town he planned, that is so very cool.

Here is the post. This is the last stop on the Silver Line as of now. They will be going all the way out to Ashburn in the future.

THE SILVER LINE IS ON THE MAPS!!!!! the above map is with the Silver line and all of the distances to places and the bottom one is a close up.

It was so neat to go on the metro and see The Silver Line everywhere. ( without the words coming soon by it)

not sure why this Christmas looking bow is on there and I considered moving that wet floor sign.

but WELCOME TO THE SILVER LINE!!!

 oh and here I am!

We rode above ground for a long time. I was not used to being on the metro for that long of a time above ground.

It took a long time to get into DC, but I am glad I experienced riding on The Silver Line.

thrifty Keli

I have lost my phone. This is the third time this has happened to me. I am so distraught everytime that I do because I am so far behind on my blog. I am now going to try and get any and all pictures I can from any and all sources and share them old/ new whatever to for once and for all catch up on my blog.. so let's start with this.

Mickey and I go for walks every day. It is so hot out, and humid. When it is 80 or above we walk up to the shopping center so basically we have been walking up to the shopping center all summer.

Every day we go to Goodwill. Every day we go to Tuesday Morning. Tuesday Morning has some amazing sales.

Recently  in August 2014,their summer stuff went to 90% off that is freaking amazing..
I got this inflatable bowling set for only 79 CENTS it is really cool. The pins are all weighted.

Mickey is a tall 11 month old so there is some perspective of what size they are.

I am excited to bring this to my family reunion this weekend.

on another note. I blew up all those bowling pins and the ball by myself!

Keli travels

In May 2014, my friend Marian texted me and asked me what was the best thing in DC. I replied,

ME

Because well that is true.
Vern and Marian were in town for a real estate convention.

I was able to see Marian but sadly not Vern. Marian and I had fun exploring old town Alexandria. We ate lunch at Gatsby's Tavern.
a view of their dining room.

Marian and I getting ready to eat. Marian got the cock-a-leekie pot pie. which was basically chicken soup with a large biscuit on top.

then we went on a tour of Gatsby's tavern.
Then we walked over to The Stabler-Ledbeater apothocary and toured that.
here we are.

 and again.

fun times!

thankful for the great day with Marian!

Spiritual Keli

In May 2014. We had a Live Clue night at the church. I did not agree with it, because well you are pretending someone got murdered at the church.

I went anyway, because how else am I going to talk trash about it?

It did not turn out that bad. It just went so slow. I finally was done so I just guessed and I had not payed attention the whole time. I just guessed who the guy that designed it would pick and I got two out of three. Which is not bad.

We had to be in character. I was Tyreeka. A girl version of Tyreese from The Walking Dead and I had a hammer.Tyreese has a hammer.

interesting times.

Keli celebrates Cinco De Mayo 2014

I have some really cute pictures on Instagram of Cinco De Mayo that for some reason I can not download.
Here are my friends kids Megan and Madison with my other friend's son Elliot.

We had a wonderful Cinco De Mayo May 2014. Great food great friends.

Keli eats

Here is a little-known fact about me. I love snow cones. I am not sure when I realized this, I just know that I am glad I did not when I lived in Utah, because there are snow cone places all over. Here in Virginia it is a miracle if you can find one.

In May 2014 some of the little girls on my street were selling snow cones.
I love to buy things from kids. I love snow cones.

 $1 sure.

they said they were donating the money to St. Jude.

I bought one. For the next few days they would come and knock on my mom's door and ask me if I wanted another. I bought one every time.

They forgot to make ice and found other things to do so after a few days they stopped selling them.

It was great while it lasted.

Keli travels

In May the the embassies of DC have an open house. Several open up to introduce us to their culture, traditions, music and food. In May 2014, Michelle, Margret, Thomas and I went.
We were waiting outside of Trinidad and Tobago and I decided to try on this head dress.
 side view
then I got Margret to try one on.

the group with this free flag that we got. Margret, Thomas, me and Michelle.

 then we went to Peru.
for a dollar you could pet these Peruvian Llamas.
 so of course I did.

awww!

they also gave us some Inca Cola

They had a place for us to take selfies

We had a lot of fun in the Philippines.

we saw them carve watermelons and cantelopes.

I dressed up in this amazing outfit.

check out Thomas he is eating a bean flavored popsicle that they gave us to try.

 yay Philippines!!

here I am with some ladies from Kazakhstan.

I felt like I was Michonne!!!

posing by a rug with all the tons of free stuff that Kazakhstan gave us.

The Australian line was long. They gave us free food and had people to entertain us though.

like this guy playing a didgeridoo...
 and this kangaroo.

We went to a hotel that had several embassies in it. Like Uganda

 and Fiji.

Fiji says that they are the happiest place on Earth.

Columbia gave us more soda and lollipops.

plus they had this photo opp!

I was so happy to go to Botswana because I love the series The Number 1 Ladies detective agency that is set there.

Mozambique gave us lots of free food!

We ended the day in Argentina!

So much fun at Embassy Day 2014. It was my second year going. I look forward to going in 2015!
