That is quite embarrasing. In June 2015, I decided to tackle it. My friend Tom was kind enough to drive and provide support the whole time.
Thank goodness I had cute socks, because the hike is HARD. you have to hike uphill on a fire road just to get there. then you hike a bunch of switch backs. Then you come to a point where it is NOTHING BUT ROCKS.
I am not even kidding you NOTHING BUT ROCKS and you have to go under and over and climb up and down them to get to the summit.
THE VIEW IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!
the whole time you are on the trail the view is amazing.
Some of our adventures,
there was an army group doing their stuff, we were with at least some of them the whole time. That was kind of neat.
there was a man that had a LITTLE kid on his back in a back pack and hiked that whole thing. I asked him what his wife thought of that. He said he had not told his wife and would not tell his wife until he got back. That is not shocking.
There were though some kids in elementary school that DID make it. I want to have kids like that!
There were tons of nice people all along the way besides Tom of course that helped me when I was scared or felt like I could not do it.
On the way down we walked a never ending fire road. by the end I felt like I CAN NOT EVEN DO THIS ANYMORE...when we were done with the trail and on the road heading back to our car, we saw some of the army group looking for their peeps and I asked them for a ride back to the car. I am OK with that because like Tom said, I did do the whole trail.
I did not take many pictures on the trail..but I DID take this one. I later blasted it out to all my friends. My friend Rachel Partain figured out what it was. It is Jelly Fungus!
but Tom wisely said that, that picture could have been ANYWHERE..
omgosh SO TIRING!!!! but WE DID IT! I did it!
yay!
Now I am ready to go on another hike..but well I am broke.. and need to finish cleaning my house. but I will go on another soon.
