movie night

Jessyca, Sami and I went and saw City of Ember at the Lewiston $ theater tonight. I had no idea what this movie was about or who was in it... but hey I went to see it and I really enjoyed it. Kimberlina from my ward was there alone so we sat with her. She and later Becky DeFriez told me that they had read the book. I think I am going to put this on my to read list. I reccommend this movie :)

last weekend

Last weekend so many cool things happened, I took pictures of Amanda LaMonte my friend Doddie's daughter at a really cool park I found in Logan,Utah called Rendevouz Park I would love to go back to this park when the weather is better and just walk around.

I went to my craft class and with the help of Amanda painted a ton of stuff... phew.. glad she was there... THEN my friends Walter and Kellie and I met at the American West Heritage Center in Wellesville,Utah. Walter is a manager at that. We mostly rode around with Walter in a wagon. We did get to try some food from the Victorian dinner we all ate a fish that still had the scales and tail on it...but it was deep fried so yeah I ate it..hahhaha
The next day I took pictures of Doddies family at Mack Park, ( yes I went there) in Smithfield,Utah. They also came out really good:)
I also had a great dinner Sunday night with Walter and Kellie and I went to the First Presidency Christmas Devotional at the Richmond Stake center. Where my friend's ex-wife said she wanted to start hanging out with me and the Bishop of the singles ward tryed to fix me up with my old boyfriend...

Books

I just finished The Shelters of Stone by Jean Auel today and all I can say is WHAT A RELIEF! this book was 721 pages long.... and SO REPETITIVE!!!!!!! and waaaay to explicit....I LOVED the story or the idea of the story, sometimes the characters were TOO PERFECT....This book was also very explicit which I don't get because it is like if you are so repetitive it is like you are writing to someone young, but if you are writing to someone young why are you so explicit I don't get it at all.....

Costa Vida, Logan,Utah

So I realized that there are a little over 40 restaraunts that I have not tryed in the Cache Valley. I want to do my best to try ALL the restaraunts in Cache Valley. That being said last night my friend Danielle and I went to Costa Vida. Several years ago Costa Vida opened up in Provo, Ut with much fanfare because they were sued for copying another famous Utah restaraunt called Cafe Rio. WELL Cafe Rio should have just saved their money, because IMO Costa Vida has NOTHING on Cafe Rio I tryed the pork salad that I always get at Cafe Rio and all though it was very similar, it was just not as good. SO UNLESS you are trying to try all the restaraunts in Cache Valley or your friend wants to go this one, is best left...spend your money at Cafe Rio. here is the website just in case....

http://www.costavida.net/index.html

who knew they had so many locations??? there is even one in ME.

Movie Night

I went to the Lewiston $ theater with not just Jessyca this time... Sami and Tyler came too. We went and saw Batman The Dark Knight soo all the hordes of people that have been telling me that I need to go and see this movie can now rest... I have went and seen the movie... It was long... and I was pleasantly surprised at how HOT Christian Bale is .... I had never seen a movie with him in it before! I think that Heath did an AMAZING JOB!!!! I am still a bit sad Aaron made me take his picture off my screen saver... Aaron said we know what happened to him... UNTIL JANUARY WHEN SOMEONE BAPTIZES HIM IN THE TEMPLE YOU KNOW IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!:) I would do it if I could! anyway this movie was just aiight for me and no offense to you all but I am OK that I waited for the $ theater... Sami fell asleep... and there were some teen girls with some big heads in front of us.... OK so I am downplaying it... I did like the storyline and the twist and all the action. :) My favorite quote was when he said and this coat was NOT CHEAP! you should know you paid for it! :)

MAMA MIA!!!!

Last night I took Jessyca to see Mama Mia! at the Lewiston Dollor theater. When I walked in I saw a young guy he said he had been drug to the movie by his wife.. When the show started and all the singing started, I thought wow that woman REALLY REALLY owes her husband :)

One thing I did not get about this movie is that all the older people in it were in their 50's (Colin Firth is 48 but still..) So 20 years ago they were all suppossed to WILD AND CRAZY and YOUNG but 20 years ago they were all in their LATE 30's .... like yeah, so I am suppossed to believe that in your LATE 30's you were wild and crazy and THEN settled down and became succussful wow.... but hey if that is the case I GOT PLENTY OF TIME to settle down and be succussful!!!:) So I got totally caught up in all the singing and dancing and scenary and for a second there forgot the movie was totally immoral!!!!! funny how all that was disguised :)

field trip

I had an event filled day this Saturday. I got up and met my friend Josh Chertkow and his fiance Jessica Roberts. We drove up to Preston,Idaho. I wanted to take their pictures by the Oneida Building BUT it was all fenced off. (note to self, must check out places before I go with someone to take pictures!) There is a cool park right by there and I got some cute pictures of them by a gazebo. We then moved on to the Oneida Narrows. I got some AWESOME PICTURES OF THEM UP THERE!!!! I am so happy we went up there. It seems like every couple in Northern Cache Valley goes to Mack Park in Smithfield and that is PLAYED OUT IMO!!!!!!!!! There are SO MANY PRETTY PLACES around here, yet some people imagination only goes as far as Mack Park.... I don't get it. Someone in my ward even asked why I didn't go there???? wow ANYWAY....

So after I took these beautiful pictures. I went to craft class at my friend Danielle's. This month for my ladder it says "HAVE" then there is a Santa with a mop beard and the board on the bottom says " your self a merry little Christmas" It is so cute! after craft class

I went with my friend Kate to SALT LAKE CITY!!!!!! We went to see the Body Worlds Exhibit http://www.theleonardo.org/bodyworlds/ there is a web site for you to check out regarding it. This exhibit was very awe-inspiring if you view it the right way. It was so scary to see the smokers lung. It looked like ASPHALT! it was just so ...wow! It was neat to see what the things look like inside of you, kind of freaky knowing they are REAL.They had what little babies look like inside you even when you are just barely pregnant. That was hard for me to see, knowing that some woman out there LOST her baby. I mean that was someone's hopes and dreams and LITTLE BABY :( that must have been huge to donate their little babies to science. The full bodies were well full bodies. it is wierd for me to think THEY WERE ALIVE LIKE ME!!!! I wonder if the people were as atheletic as they portrayed them? At the end, their was a gift shop, I got a magnet from The Leo ( the museum's name) and one from the exhibit, which was priced WAY TO HIGH!!!!!! It was 6.99 for just a simple magnet. I said " are you kidding me?" "this is more than you pay for really cool magnets at The Smithsonian"...... I did buy it though.. I mean I have a collection to uphold. I also bought some postcards for my boss and some other people that I have not decieded who to send them too. You could also write a body secret on a piece of paper and they would tape it on the wall I wrote " I WILL TREAT MY BODY AS A SACRED TEMPLE"
They had a board like that on am episode of Cold Case where someone writes they killed someone then later they solve the case and the mom puts on the board my daughter is that hero.... this is a shameless plug for COLD CASE :)
After the exhibit we went to a restaraunt called One World Cafe. The idea they have is great, they want to feed everyone food and you pay whatever you think it is worth. So we go in and they have self-serve water, coffee and tea. you could also pour yourself a glass of milk. We then got some squash soup which consisted of hot yellow water. This soup had no taste to me. The lady that ran it, put EVERYTHING on my plate that they had to offer so I had some green salad, some fruit salad, some pasta roni, some curry, an omelat and some other stuff IDK what it was. Some of the stuff was good... some was aiight. some was just bland. The restaraunt is split into little rooms with tables, all different sorts of tables and chairs. We picked out a table and ate our food. We each paid five dollors for our meal. We put it in a little pink envelope and dropped it in a treasure chest. Here is the link http://www.oneworldeverybodyeats.com/ and Kate thinks the dishwasher is hot too...

We left there and drove onto Layton to go to TARGET!!!! I bought David Cook's CD cause I had been thinking about him ALL DAY!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP5fBx8JLoQ I also got some darling shoes, some knee socks to wear with boots, and some yummy snacks. I wish Target would come to Cache Valley. It is just wierd to think that you are exotic cause you go to Target. "like check out my cute shoes I GOT THEM AT TARGET!!!!!" like ooooh Target wow you must have went to LAYTON .... wow!" hahahah

We got some frozen custard at a place called Nielsons.
Then we picked up Kathy in Bountiful and headed back here ;)
........ and after my adventerous day I was once again HAPPY TO BE BACK IN LEWISTON UTAH :)

field trip

I have lived in the Cache Valley for a little over two years. In that time I have been able to go to almost every restaraunt in the Cache Valley. (benefits of living in a small valley) Last night I was able to add another notch to my belt and tryed the Indian Oven, my co-worker Cindy and I went there last night and to sum it up YUM! We got there in time for the early bird, we got appetizer (garlic bread called naan) and two entree's I got chicken coconut kurma Cindy got chicken tikka marsala... (these names might be just approximate) both were served with basmati rice. We paid fifty cents extra and got speciality drinks called Lassi's. Cindy got a mango. I got a strawberry. We got some delicious desserts we had rice pudding and something else that was like donut holes in a syrup. All in all WE BOTH LOVED THIS RESTARAUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Our waitress was great she got a great tip from us :) ALL OF THIS STUFF for 20.99!!!!! and the ambiance, is just awesome. This is a definate MUST TRY RESTARUNT :) here is the link for you :)

I was sitting at my house reading (when I should have been cleaning) on Saturday when my friend Lexie stopped by with her kids Emyrie and Darby. She invited me to a SLEEPOVER at her house that night. I was so happy!!!!! Our friend Brinna and her kids: Ryleigh, Teagen and McKinna came also. We had a yummy Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner turns out Lexie worked there when she was younger. Brinna and I asked if she had any secrets. She told us the dough is a mix and the sauce comes in a bag... so um yeah moving on... Lexie and I sat up this AWESOME TENT. that is MINE!!!!!! I BETTER have SOMEONE to go camping with next spring and summer cause this tent is freaking awesome! we all got in the tent and watched Barbie and the Diamond Castle. Emyrie picked this movie. I felt a bit sad for Teagen. I asked him how he felt is said " I pince chahmin" he also said was an "ahmee guy" cause he was wearing camoflauge PJs. So he seemed all good with it :) Brinna and her kids went home and Darby slept in her room but Emryie, Lexie and I slept in the tent.

............... Emyrie said the next day she could not sleep very well cause I kept on talking, SO BEWARE when you invite me to sleepovers... :)

I JUST WANT TO SAY I AM SO HAPPY THAT LEXIE INCLUDEDE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! I mean how lucky am I that I got to spend my Sat. doing that I had SO MUCH FUN!!! I am so happy :)

craft

I got this cute thanksgiving craft idea off this blog http://georganahall.typepad.com/ I HAD TO DO IT!!!!!!!! even though I have NO PLANS really for Thanksgiving.

That is what sucks about living in Utah and being single, I have to WAIT for someone to feel sorry for me and invite me their family get together.....

So I have just decieded to do stuff that I would do if I did have a family I mean why wait? So I bought this vase at DownEast Outfitters it was only 4.40$ and came with the rocks!!!! when I walked in DownEast and saw that vase I was so ecstatic! I then went to Michaels with my friend Katie and we found some cute tags and other scrapbook stuff. I got the sticks off a bush in my front yard then,I wrote what I was thankful for on all my tags and completed this wonderful project which is now sitting on my table at home. My co-worker Shelli made a variation of one too which is now on her kitchen table. I am SO THANKFUL FOR CRAFTS!!!:)

movie

I took Jessyca (my co-workers daughter that has special needs)

to see Journey to the center of the Earth at the Lewiston $ theater on Mon. night. I went in and did not expect much. Because I had heard that this movie was not very good, turns out I really enjoyed it. The dialouge was clean. (only one "bad" word) The story was a good. I liked the characters I don't know what peoples deal with this movie was but I liked it...Jessyca really seemed to like it to. I also made Jessyca buy her own ticket and pick out her own candy and purchase it. big steps for her.

After I got home from the movie I looked up Jules Verne on the internet. I had NO IDEA he was french. maybe I will read this book since I enjoyed the movie.

also regarding the title of this post the center of Lewiston has : a bank, a gas station, a market, a church, a library, a theater, a barber......... and some abandoned or for rent buildings.... farther down in town there is another church and another gas station.... so if you are looking to start a buisness, you better come to LEWISTON,UTAH :)

Thursday, November 13, 2008

So this is monumental week for me I actually went and saw TWO movies I also saw The Errand Of Angels at the Lewiston $ theater. I really liked this movie about sister missionaries and even cryed. I thought it was really well done. There were so many expieriences like I had on my mission and it really brought me back to that glorious and sometimes stressful but always wonderous time of my life. I really reccommend this movie.... which also has sub-titles too :)

Movie

Katie and I went to the Logan Art Cinema on Tuesday we saw Man On Wire. It is a movie about a tight rope walker that in 1974 with help from friends set up a tight rope and walked between the World Trade Centers. It had one wierd questionable part that came out of nowhere like um...OK?? and some subtitles cause they speak in French. If you can handle all of that ... then I recommend this movie! I don't know if I recommend going to see it at the Logan Art Cinema. They have no heat.... we just wore our coats and used some extra coats from my car for blankets. I did get cold though....

On another note, earlier in the night we went to Cold Stone and had peanut butter passion ice cream and have decieded we need to make some at home.

We also went by Andersons where Katie got some seeds she is going to mail some to the network that broadcasts Pushing Daisies cause she loves that show and doesnt want it cancelled. If you love that show Katie I am sure would implore you to join in the protest so it wont get cancelled...
wikipedia or other things to look up regarding what I just wrote for your convience
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_Petit this is the guy featured in the movie we saw.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1155592/ I love this site to look up movies!
http://www.coldstonecreamery.com/about/about_cold_stone.html in case you want to find a Cold Stone near you and get some PB passion.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0925266/ these two are so you can check out Katie's show.

crafts

This sat. we had our SUPER SATURDAY! There was some discrepensy of whether we were going to actually have Supe Saturday BUT the Richmond,Utah Stake came through and we got to have one!!!!!! ( some of my friends wards would not let them have it) I would have FREAKED if we did not have it. I love every fall seeing that table set up and picking all the fun crafts to do.

This year my friend's Jake and Paul's girlfriends came with me and assited me with making my crafts. Here is what I made this year

1. a really cool fabric headband- here is a link to the blog of the lady that did the headbands with us :) http://georganahall.typepad.com/ She had plastic headbands and you covered them with fabric. I got some fabric at Hobby Lobby in Logan just in case she did not have cute fabric. She did have REALLY cute fabric, I am still glad I bought my own though. It took me forever to sew my fabric together for my head band. I really need to work on my sewing skills.... hopefully that is something I will accomplish this year. After sewing you hot glued the fabric to the headband.Mine came out SO CUTE! I wore mine to church on Sun. and work on Mon.
2. a tall wooden snowman- so glad I made him, since now I have a scarecrow to sit out there in Sept and Nov, a cat for Oct. and a now a SNOWMAN for Dec. and Jan and hey maybe in Feb! he is going to be standing out there for awhile. At least I hope he will be he is a bit unsteady. I might have to get something to attach him to my porch post. Stephanie (Paul's GF) and Marquie ( Jakes's gf) helped me paint him.
3. a REALLY cute Thanksgiving set, a little wooden set of pilgrims and indians it is so cute, sitting on my shelf
4. a really, really cute Nativity that is sitting on my window sill and needs to get put away....until the day after Thanksgiving
So another Super Saturday has come and gone.
I got home and Paul and his roommates were busy taking wall paper down in my house. They got as much wallpaper as they could down before they had to leave
They also blessed my house so now I am all good that way.....
AND THEY BROKE MY TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they did not tell me this until they were about to leave. Jake said oh yeah we broke your tv they were moving my entertainment center and the TV fell out and they just could not catch it and well it fell and made a sound and now I have a dead TV they said they are looking for one. I don't know if they really are. But well on Sunday night I was REALLY lonely without my best friends the Amazing Race and Cold Case.

storytime

I loved Halloween 2008... well let me say that different I loved my Halloween costume 2008. I had enough money to buy a cool costume. I found one online at a site called costumecraze.com. It is a Maid Marian costume. it has a little hat and I just wore my hair down and wavy. The dress was almost all the way modest. I did have to wear a cream shirt under it, which fit in really well with the costume. I just want to say again. I LOVE THIS COSTUME! it is just so so so pretty! I am still wearing it even though it is 12:30 am! I did not have a Robin Hood. Preston at work asked if he could be my Robin Hood.....Baldo at work asked me why I wore such a large costume and why I didn't I want to wear a mini-skirt....um yeah anyway on both of those comments. So I get to work, there were about 15 people dressed up....I had a good day though sitting around in my PRETTY dress. I gave all my friends caramel apples and some caramel candy.

Tonight I had 10 trick or treaters, 8 of them I asked to come to my house to get candy. Johnny Boy wanted a string cheese instead of an Almond Joy. I then took Sami and Jessyca trick or treating.

We went down Sugar Lane and the dogs on that street were going CRAZY! they were barking up a storm. While trick or treating some of the people seemed so annoyed that we came...like I live in the country I thought I would not have any trick or treaters... yet HERE YOU ARE.... Some didn't even have candy. Some did not even open the door. and Some were overjoyed like HEY WE GOT TRICK OR TREATERS!!!!!! one house had lollipops stuck in a pumpkin to give us, it looked pretty cool. One guy who's whole yard was covered with cigarette's told me I looked "lovely" tons of classy guys hitting on me this Halloween.
So now I am here eating tons of candy and thinking that next year I will be Hermoine Granger and wouldn't it be cool if I had a Ron Weasley:)

recipe

I made the yummiest caramel chocolate apples tonight! I MADE caramel like MADE it not unwrapping a bunch of caramels I MADE it... did I say I made caramel??? Any way Sami and Jessyca my co-workers daughters came over. I also invited my friends Lexie and Emyrie Adams and Becky and Melissa DeFriez and Megan Harold. Lexie melted chocolate in the microwave and we had tons of toppings and had fun putting them on the apples. Here is the recipe I found online I made that
1 cup butter (no substitutes)
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
8-10 wooden sticks
8-10 medium tart apples
Directions1Insert 1 wooden stick into each apple. 2In a heavy saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and milk; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. 3Cook and stir until a candy thermometer reads 248 degrees (firm ball stage) about 30-40 minutes. 4Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. 5Dip each apple into hot caramel mixture; turn to coat. 6Holding by the stick, sprinkle with nuts or whatever you desire while the caramel is still warm. 7Set on buttered wax paper to cool.

So I made some for all my friends at work and I realized something almost ALL MY FRIENDS ARE MEN like I made a list
Aaron
Rory
Ben
Dan
Couper
Paul
Jake
Justin
...better make one for Josh too, he sits by me and that would be rude if I did not...
wow all men....
I have Doddie too but she is out for surgery... and Cindy.... she is a doll and I better make one for Josh... he sits by me but yeah almost ALL MEN

I don't remember which website I got this off of or I would have credited them :)

Fried ice cream!

I made fried ice cream with the DeFriez's a couple of weeks ago and wanted to post the directions on here...

I took ice cream and put it in muffin cups in the freezer while it was in there we crushed up some frosted flakes, we took the ice cream out and quickly rolled the ice cream in the cereal.

We took some flour tortilla's and fried them in a pot of oil we pushed the tortilla down in the middle so that is made a bowl and fried like a bowl. we took them out of the oil and sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on the tortilla's .

We put the ice cream covered in cereal in the oil for a very short amount of time then put that in our tortilla bowl's.

We then put whip cream on our creation and enjoyed them

Between Becky, Matt and Melissa they ate one of those whole cans of whip cream!

A fun fall day!

So it is fall here in the Cache Valley. My friend Katie and I drove up Logan Canyon to go on a hike. We drove to where we thought the hike was and just could not find it. We went back looked on a map... still could not find it. We walked around the River Trail asked a few people.... still could not find the trailhead. So we drove up to the Guinavah-Malibu Campground and were looking around and we found the trailhead! by this time we did not have time to go on the hike So we walked around and took some pictures. It was so beautiful up there. I wish had someone to go camping with!!!!! We walked around and took some pictures by Logan River ( I guess it is Logan River anyway..) We drove around and found a REALLY COOL amphitheater. It looked so cool with the red seats and all the pretty leaves. There is a cool stone stage that I danced around and pretended I was Chris Brown. I had been listning to Rick Dees and the weekly top 40 on the way there and Chris was number one that day and was stuck in my head....."it's just me you and the dance floor" As we were driving out I saw a little campground where someone had carved some chairs one was just a little chair carved out of a stump and another someone had carved out of a big log and it was like a little rocking chair. Nobody was camping at this campground and I can't imagine why someone would NOT pick that campground with the two little chairs!
After we left Logan Canyon we went to the farmers market in Logan. I love farmers markets and would love to one day display my wares at one day.... whatever my wares may be :) Katie bought some raw honey and I bought some really yummy local cheese from Richmond,Utah. We also went and got some bread at Great Harvest....YUM
By this time it was time for me to get home so Katie dropped me off in Lewiston. I went to my once a month craft class that I am going to in Whitney,Id. I am making a ladder with attatchments for everymonth. I am such a wonderful saleswoman that I have got SIX people to come along with me.... which I think is awesome since it costs like 25-50 to go every month. This month our attatchments say BOO! on the first rung and a cute witch hangs on the second ( my witch has two hairline cracks I hope she will be OK!) on the bottom rung it says " A real witch lives here" I am a real good witch:) I also made a big wooden cat that is black with a jack o lantern face. The cat is wearing a witch hat wit this cool fabric I found at a fabric store in Logan called Threads and Things, it is orange with bats on it. This month at craft class we were there FOREVER like with all the people there and it took me SO LONG to paint my cat but it looks so cute sitting on my front porch at my new house!
After craft class I went home. Kathy had a birthday party going on. She had a lot of family there, I spent sometime with them. I wanted to go the RS broadcast but did not get home in time to go. Then during the re-broadcast people were talking to me... So I guess that is what the Ensign is for!
anyway so that was my fabulous fall day!

ANGEL

Almost two weeks ago I finished ALL of the series Angel. Not many people can say that they have watched EVERY single episode of a series. I am so happy that Angel is the series that I did this with. I would love to make a list of my favorite Angel episodes, I just can't narrow it down, same goes for the quotes. What I love most about the television show is the charactor development and ultimate redemption of several of the people portrayed on the show. I love how Angel deals with Faith, even when everyone else has givin up on her Angel believes in Faith and puts her on the road to repentance and change. In the last season, I loved when Connor came back and said "ya gotta do what ya gotta do to protect your family" It is so true! Family is so important and you need to go what you have to do to protect them. In the finale when Connor and Angel were fighting Marcus, Angel told Connor to go and Connor said "Will you be OK" and Angel said " As long as you are safe I will be OK" That is true as long as his son is safe he will be OK.
I was also touched when Cordelia came back and helped get Angel back on track and then said "and by the way you're welcome" awesome episode.. .... One guilty note even though for the most part he is evil I think Lindsay is HOT!!!
So I enjoyed all my time watching Angel I am rewatching some of the episodes now and of course I am open to anyone that wants to start watching it:)

recipe

Last Friday night Becky, Matt and Melissa DeFriez came over and we made donuts! I looked up a recipe online for a Krispy Kreme copycat recipe. I made the dough before I went to work in the morning as it was suppossed to rise twice. I just left it set all day and hoped it would be OK when I got home. To my delight it was! We rolled out the dough and cut out donuts with a donut cutter that I had purchased at Kitchen Kneads. (my favorite kitchen store in Logan for sure) I heated the oil and threw in a donut hole and hot oil splattered all over my hand burning it in three places. The burns on my pointer finger and palm are fading, but I have a very ugly scar on my middle finger. My burns hurt more than any burns I have ever received in my life so I spent the rest of the time that the kids were there with my hand under cold water. we burnt several donut holes and a few donuts and then we got to a stage where we did it right but we they came out doughy. Then finally pefection we got the donuts JUST RIGHT!!!!! The donuts wer so yummy and the glaze, well you just have to make them yourself and see.We made lots of donuts and the kids took a huge plate full of donuts home. I brought a plate over to my friend Shelli and her families house and Shelli let me have some aloe vera. I am so glad I covered my hand with aloe vera and reaplyed several times. I think it is the only think that helped me make it through the night. I am going to attach the recipe I found online,

Doughnuts
2 cups scalded milk
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar, divided
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons yeast
4 eggs (beaten)
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
7 cups sifted flour
Glaze
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup cold water
Directions
1Mix together ingredients for glaze
.2Melt butter in hot milk, add 1 tsp sugar and salt.
Allow to cool.
3Beat in yeast, nutmeg, eggs, remaining sugar, and 3 cups flour.
4Add rest of flour (dough will be sticky).
5Knead for 5 minutes then allow to rise for 1-1 1/2 hours
.6Roll out dough, cut into shapes.
7Do not re-roll dough,
then allow to rise for 30-45 minutes
.8Heat oil to 365° and fry 1 - 2 minutes on each side or until brown.
Toss in the doughnut holes first
, let those cook, and then proceed to cooking the donuts.
9Let them cool on a paper towel - helps get the glaze to stick.
10Dip in warm glaze.

field trip

So I had quite the day on Thurs. I went out, got in my car to go to work and the battery was dead. I had left my headlights on all night. Lucky for me some Lewiston City workers were nearby and that was fixed in a jiffy. So I started out to go to work and in Richmond my car started driving really well lop-sided. I had a strong feeling I had a flat tire. I did not want to believe it though I had had a flat tire just three weeks ago on the driver front. This was on the passenger front. So I just kept driving hoping against all hope that I would be able to make to Qwest THEN figure out what to do. I made it through Smithfield and was probably in Hyde Park when the last of the tire went. I pulled in to a parking lot of place that makes factory homes and looked at my tire it looked like a wild animal had attacked my tire with its claws. I called my friend Lexie and she called her husband Davey ( who I also work with) Davey and another co-worker Rory came and fixed my tire lickety-split. In my stress I had called in and said I would not be at work until noon. It was only 9:15. So I went and got my tire fixed at a place called Jack's tire and oil in Logan. They only charged 21$ Which was much better than the 80$ I payed for the tire I replaced three weeks ago. I am now convinced of two things,
1. There is something in my driveway that is making me get flat tires. I am going to go to Smithfield Implement and buy something that picks up metal to try and get whatever it is.
2. Anytime I get a flat tire I am going to get if fixed ASAP.
I also am thinking VERY SERIOUSLY about triple A. Maybe I would get on first name basis with the triple A people, kind of like my friend Beth calls the cab company she is like "hi I need a cab", and they said is this "Huntington Square" I would be like "um hi triple A" and they would say "yes Keli where are you this time?"
I ran a few errands I went and bought some cleaning supplies and while at the store I realized that cleaning products are marketed to women and well it works. Like products these days smell like mountain fresh air and so many bottles are purple. If you actually look down the cleaning aisle and look it is like a purple explosion. I have to admit I bought several things because of the smells and the pretty bottles so well the strategy paid off. I told this to my friend Katie that evening and she also pointed out that all the cleaning commercials are all about WOMEN cleaning. I had never realized how sexist the cleaning supply market was until now. I guess they don't want men to clean or even help women clean. This woman needs to clean I have been deep-cleaning for two days now and I have not gotten that far. I guess you don't progress as fast when you are really cleaning. Cleaning though is worth it. As I said in the past two days I have not gotten far, but as I look back on what I have done cleaning wise and the growing pile of things I am getting rid of... I can't help but smile.
So I got to work had a great day there;which was made even better when my friend Katie picked me up at work. We drove to Preston,Idaho and went to the Oneida Narrows Reservoir. You drive all the way through Preston when you get to Burger King and the road splits you go to the right you pass the golf course and well you just keep going and going and going until you get to a Hwy 36 take a right there. Then you drive and drive and drive until you see a sign that says Oneida Narrows and you take a left.
You will then see a house on the left where an enterprising family has set up a soda machine in their front yard with a sign that says "cold drinks" so there you go if you ever need an idea of how to make some extra dough, set up a soda machine in your yard with a sign that says "cold drinks" it is like a twenty-four lemonade stand you don't even have to man.
the Oneida Narrows is a stretch of river that you can tube down. Katie actually did this on a date when she was in HS. I want to do it. We stopped at the first pretty place we saw and took some really cool pictures in a huge pipe and on the rocks in the water. The pictures came out really good. We also found a dead bird that looked like the only reason that it died is that it just gave up and crashed into a rock. We also saw a dead fish that also looked like the only reason that it died is that it just swam up on a rock and died. We took pictures of both.
We then drove on until Katie saw a tree with a really cool branch. She climbed out on it, I was to scared but I took some very cute pictures of her on the branch
We then drove on a bit and thought we had best turn around so that we could get back to Preston in time to get something to eat. We turned around at a cattle guard. I looked up and saw a HUGE CAVE! Yes a cave! we were like is that a CAVE???!! and wow it is HUGE! we saw a little trail leading up to the cave and decided we needed to take it. It was about 7:30pm at night as we started hiking up the little trail. I had on flip flops and almost every step I took my foot flipped out of my flip flop. I protested several times. Katie said that this was my idea that I could take off my shoes and keep walking. I once again huffed and puffed my way up a trail. We stopped once on a black rock and took some pics and forged on.all of a sudden RIGHT in front of me was the cave!! the hike was only about ten minutes max and would have been shorter if we had been wearing the right kind of shoes. When the cave appeared around the corner it was like we were in Moab. Where you hike for a short amount of time and then see something huge. The entrance to this cave was just enormous. It was getting dark and we could hear bats wings flapping.... bats making what ever bat noise they make and owls hooting I am SERIOUS!!!! I felt like we were in a Scooby Doo episode and I was Shaggy and Scooby combined ZOINKS! I also had a bit of the Cowardly Lion thrown in, I made Katie take a picture of me and how scared I was because I am serious this is the most scary thing I have done (except for dating) in a long time. Katie actually stood in the entrance of the cave and I took some pics. There are two holes where you can go farther back in the cave, neither of us had any interest in doing this with all the bats and owls making so much noise. I was also so scared I pictured in my mind a big cougar or something walking out from one of those holes. After we snapped some pictures. We started the trek down. it was so steep. Not very good in the shoes that we were wearing Katie kind of did a crab walk down I on the other hand well just put my jacket on the ground and slid down like it was an alpine slide. My jacket was so dirty that when we got in the car and I put it on the floor a big cloud of dust emanated from it.
We ate dinner at Mis Amores in Preston. I like that restaraunt Katie thought it was just OK
Then headed back to Utah :)

field trip

This weekend I went hiking in Logan Canyon with my friend Paul. We hiked to the Jardine Juniper Tree it is a ten mile hike round trip.As with any journey it was great to get to our destination but also great to finish...Like check us out we hiked that!

I met Paul at his house in Logan at a little after eight in the morning on Sat. We got up to the trailhead in Logan Canyon close to nine AM. It was easy to find, you just drive up Logan Canyon until you see the sign that says Jardine Juniper trail. When Paul and I parked at the trailhead we saw a group of people on horseback starting up the trail. One of the horses started bucking like he was a bucking bronco at the rodeo. The old man riding him just held on and the horse fell over and the old man fell over. Paul and I thought that was a bit scary. We did not get out of the car until we knew where the horse was, I mean not tryin to go on a hike with a wild horse on the loose. We did not see them the rest of the hike until we got back to the car, they said they took another trail... So Paul and I started on the trail. I was not the prettiest trail I have ever been on. but the higher we got the more breathtaking the views of the canyon. The hike was not pretty where Paul and were walking but where ever I could SEE was absolutly beautiful. I really liked this hike because the our ascent was so gradual we had a number of switchbacks there was never a point in the hike where I thought WHOA CAN I MAKE IT UP THAT???? I was huffing and puffing like I was a big bad wolf though. On the way up we ran into some really out of shape mountain bikers. We saw them once and they said they were on their way up.... we never saw them again. We think that they gave up. We also saw an old man RUNNING down he had to be AT LEAST SIXTY. I thought wow I am not in that good of shape NOW!!! i would LOVE to be in that good of shape THEN!!!! At one point this man appeared on the trail he asked us how we were doing we said fine and he said he had "bushwacked" his way to where we were, we were REALLy high up at this point to like um OK dude I have no idea why unless you are looking for places to hunt but hey go ahead... We ran into an older couple that was all decked out they even had hiking poles they told us some other cool places to hike in Logan Canyon and took a picture of Paul and I. Paul and I took several cool pictures of us with the scenary. It was just so neat to be that high up. When we arrived at the Jardine Juniper the view there is .... JUST AMAZING you are so high up and there you are with this tree that is over 320o years old. Only the top of it is still alive and has leaves. There was an observation deck with a box to leave a message that you had been there. I found pages dating back to 2002 of people that had been there and left messages. I wrote that I loved the scenary and Paul wrote that he love the grasshoppers...

The young men and young women in the Logan Spanish branch were there. One girl Jeanette took some really cool pictures of Paul and I. I posted the pics on facebook and myspace, when you see them comment please! We ate lunch up by the tree and started back down. On the way there we took a "scenic route" on the way back we took the "shady route" we saw another group of horse back riders we saw several mountain bikers that were really struggling on the way up and just cruising on the way down. the mountain bikers made it up and down before Paul and I even made it down. I said to all of them did you go all the way to the tree they all said yes, one said did you, I said yes and we have 100 pictures to prove it! Actually we had about sixty. Also at the tree there was also a box with papers and writing utensils where we had to sign in that we made it to the top. I have said that the hike was beautiful and the tree was neat and the pictures are so cool. I also want to say that Paul and I talked almost straight from 8:30 AM until almost 2:00Pm Paul is one of the NICEST guys I have ever met... He is just a really really nice guy. I really enjoyed talking to him. Paul asked me when we got in the car if my legs hurt, I said no not at all.WELL when I got out of the car at the thrift store I volenteer at in Smithfield... whoa my legs were like Jello. I am just now on Tuesday able to walk normal...I managed to volenteer at Somebodys Attic for a couple of hours. I got some really cute kids books. That night I went to my friends Davey and Lexie's house. I read their daughter Emryie the cute kids books around five times each:). I then watched Failure to Launch with Davey and Lexie. It was an OK movie since it had Matthew McConaghy and Riley from National Treasure in it .... other than that well um.... yeah

So that was my day and my hike let me know what you think! I am still so happy when I think of this day:)

recipe

So today I took it upon myself to make a cookie bouquet. I had Becky, Matt and Melissa DeFriez over to help me. I made some sugar cookie dough. While it was firming up in the fridge we decorated our pots with the limited amount of paint that I have. When the cookie dough was ready we took it out of the fridge and it was very crumbly. Thank goodness Kathy was home, she put some milk in my dough and made it all better. So we rolled out the dough and cut it out into three shapes, stars, hearts and flowers. we then put the stick on the cookie and put more dought around the stick and baked it. We had several fall on the ground and fall of the stick... BUT we were each able to get a bouquet in each of our pots! The kids used most of the cute decorater gel I had bought by the time that I got around to wanting to frost mine. Mine still look sort of cute... sorta cute. I got some gravel from out of the driveway and we put that in each of our pots to hold up the sticks. This whole process took around FOUR hours!!! in fact I still have some cookies out there that need to be frosted.... The kids sister Julie came and got them and they were able to ride home with their bouquets on their laps. I have to bring my bouquet all the way to Logan tomorrow. Then over to my friend Kyle's so I can give it to him. I hope that it can withstand all of that. I have little plastic bags on each of the cookies now. I just hope that it can stand coming with me to Qwest and then to Kyle's job. So after all this I can say that I have made a cookie bouquet. I don't think I want to make another anytime soon but I sure am glad that I have that expierience under my belt. I mean not everyone can say that they have made a cookie bouquet!!! I am going to mail my friend Elaine and my friends Keturah and Shalisa some sticks so they can try and make their own bouquets.... and I sure do hope that Kyle LOVES his bouquet!

Michelle Bommarito’s Sugar Cookies For Sticks3 c. all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking powder2 sticks butter, unsalted, softened1 cup granulated sugar1 large egg 1/2 t. kosher salt1 teaspoon vanilla extractdash of almond extractSift together the flour and baking powder. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the egg, salt and both extracts.Slowly add flour mixture (1 cup at a time) and stir until incorporatedForm the dough into a disc and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll the dough onto a lightly floured surface to approximately 5/8″ thick. Cut the cookies into shapes and place the cut cookie shape on a parchment lined cookie; Poke a stick into cookies.Bake the cookies for approximately 8-10 minutes or until the edges begin to turn golden brown in color. Remove cookies from the oven and allow tocool on a wire rack for 5 minutes.Royal Icing 1 pound confectioner’s sugar5 T meringue powder or 1/4 cup pasteurized egg whitesIce cold water according to desired consistency and 1 teaspoon vanillaStir together, using as much water as needed for desired consistency

That is the recipe that I used... like I said I must have used to much flour or something I found this recipe online....

So I made that
we decorated our pots
we found it was easier if we just put the stick on the dough and then just put dough over the stick
we baked them for about 15 minutes
let cool for about 15 minutes
frosted the flowers, stars and hearts
stuck them in the flowerpots
any questions or comments just ask me

I will post some pictures as soon as I can figure out how to get pictures off my camera!

storytime

So yesterday I went to my craft class that I have been attending once a month. I made a wooden ladder and then every month we go to make new cute wooden things to hang on said ladder. This month we made a really cute frog the top says JUMP then there is a cute frog and the bottom says in, to our pad. So I got my frog on my ladder hanging outside my door. Looking at my super cute ladder I realized two things. The more things I get the more I realize that I am waaaay past the apartment stage of my life. Like there is no way if you had an apartment you could have a cute ladder by your door, it would get stolen!!! I am also past the apartment stage cause I have just so many things like I have a trampoline!!! Second thing I realized is that people are really just hopping into MY pad there is no OUR they are just hopping into MY pad. Hopefully that will change at some point though. I know that when people are hopping into OUR pad... OUR pad wont be an apartment cause I am bursting out of of MY apartment right now.
As for the rest of the day in the evening I had some people over to roast stuff in my little fire pit. The DeFriez family and the Thurgood family and my friend Katie came over we roasted hot dogs, and marshmallows we put the marshmallows in the middle of oreos and made smoreos they were really good. Becky DeFriez, Katie and I made egg in an orange. I got the idea off the internet you hollow out an orange and then crack an egg into it and then wrap it in foil and put it in the fire. Myself and Becky's eggs came out sooo gross that they were just unedible... Katies you could at least try and eat... I always say that when you are creative and you have lots of ideas some turn out GREAT and some like egg in an orange turn out ... not so great... after everyone left, Katie and I were sitting inside and the wind started blowing really hard and we went outside and my yard furniture was everywhere the fire was really high in the firepit... it had been almost out. So Katie and I gathered up all the lawn furniture and put the fire out . We are glad that we went outside Katie said that if we had not there would have been a headline in the paper that said LEWISTON ABLAZE!!!!

field trip

So I have been volenteering at a thrift store in Smithfield,Utah. It is called Sombody's Attic Too.
So this guy comes in three weeks ago and he had this think that goes on the front of the hood of a truck, to deflect bugs. This thing was full of dead bugs and he said "yeah I got this out of a dumpster, and was wondering if you all wanted it here" I said well I am just a volenteer here, you will have to take it back and talk to the ladies that actually work here.I say this to all the customers that come in and ask about donations. So this guy got soooo mad, he said "oh so you can't even look at me or talk to me!!??" I said "well IDK what they choose to take or not take you will need to ask them" He walked off in a huff... Tanna told him that we would take it ...even though we just put it in the DI donation bin. So then he came up and said to me, "well I need a reciept for tax purposes or are you to good to even talk to me and do that for me..." I thought no I deal with people like this all week at Qwest, over the phone I am for sure not dealing with this right now in person.... So I walked away and went to get Tanna and said Sorry I can just not wait on that man... She went up and told him that he was not to talk to the volenteers that way and that if he was going to be rude he did not even need to come into our store. So this man took off his hat and aplogized to me. I thought well that was nice and that is the end of the story....

Then last week he comes in and is like can you help me be a Halloween costume? I said what would you like to be? He said well he would rather not disclose that....??? I said well OK .... let me know if you need any help...like dude if you can't tell me then I can't help you....

Then this week he comes in and is like so have you found anything for my Halloween costume yet? I was like well what are you going to be? He said he was not ready to tell me and asked what I was going to be, I said I am going to be Maid Marian, He said are you going to wear a wig, I said yes... he said Oh you don't need to you got a pageboy. I said well um I am going to be Maid Marian and she had long hair. He said so when are you going to start hanging up long sleeve dresses. I said I am not sure. He said he thought I would say that since I basically know nothing.
He then said, so can I ask you a question? I said sure... He said how about if you and I go out and get drinks sometime... I said well, I am LDS... (and he is also like SIXTY!!) I mean did he REALLY think he was good-looking or rich enough to pick up someone THIRTY YEARS younger than him????) So ANYWAY he said that he would look over the fact that I was LDS... I hesitated and lied and said well... I am involved with someone.... Kathy says it is not really a lie, I mean I am involved with tons of people.... He said that was fine and that him and I would just keep in touch.... I have no idea how since he does not even know my name...

So after he left... another guy came in that has got to be like fourty-five. He told me once he went to HS at the same time as me.... I HAVE NO IDEA what he is talking about, cause he looks WAY to old to have even been a sr. when I was a freshman... Like dude, maybe you were a teacher when I was in HS.... So two weeks ago when he came in Tanna told him I was single... I know she meant well but I am NOT interested... So now this guy just comes in pretends to shop and stares at me....

Then this other lady Dee came in. Dee is very large. She came in one time and fixed me up with a guy named Dusty. I actually went out with Dusty once.... we will just leave it at that. So Dee was telling me a bunch of junk about Dusty.... and talking to me forever...Dee stays in there forever and buys tons of stuff... she is a very good thrift store shoppper. She can find almost anything in there... So Dee is talking to me for so long and then she said, that her and I are going to need to hang out soon and go and get some drinks???!!! I was like oh well I am active in the church she said that is OK we can still chill.... I just don't know what to say....

So after working ALL DAY at Somebodys attic with NO AC.... Katie and I were sooo hot!!! We went to the Sonic in Logan and got lime rickeys. This was my first lime ricky, I always get the same thing at Sonic a stawberry slush.... So Katie convinced me to try a lime ricky... I am so glad I did they are very good and I definitaly reccomment them to people! in fact I might go get one today! It was so nice and cool after our HOT DAY!!!

So Katie and I went to the Cache County Fair. we walked around and looked at all the animals. We saw the pigs and the goats and and the sheep the rabbits and the ducks, and the HUGE ROOSTERS!!!! I just could not believe the size of the roosters. I know that whenI have kids I really really want them to raise animals.....maybe not big roosters though those are scary!!! they were like as big as Foghorn Leghorn!!!

We then went and walked around all the booths and checked out all that the fair had to offer. I got a shirt that says Cache Valley Fair and Rodeo 2008 Tough enough to wear pink... I was not tough enough to find that shirt to wear it today though...:( Maybe I left it in Katie's car.

We almost got henna tatoo's but the line was to long:(

Katie bought some Obama posters. I said I would get one.... but well it would just be facing my backyard kind of silly. Katie also registered to vote!!! how cool is that??!! we should all be registered to vote and vote!!!

We then walked around through all the barns and looked at all the stuff that people had entered into the fair to win prizes. The kids had made some pretty amazing stuff. There was even a Salt Lake City Temple made out of KNEX. Someone I know later told me they thought it was a BIRDHOUSE???? and she is LDS, like no that was the SLC temple....

I also saw the COOLEST QUILT!!! it was all squares of sequins it was a tie quilt and the back was hot neon pink!!! It was made by a teenager.:)

Also there was a large amount of people that made skirts that were denim on the top and some sort of fabric on the bottom. I don't know when the last time I saw someone wearing one of those but they have a whole catagory for making them at the fair. I think they also have a stick horse catagory.... So Katie and I spent forever looking at the different things.

I have now decided that NEXT YEAR I WILL ENTER SOMETHING INTO THE CACHE COUNTY FAIR!!!! I am serious!!! I mean they had people that had just colored!!!?? or tied fleece quilts or grew large zucchinni...

Someone asked me, what will you enter, I said what wont I enter? I will enter as many things as they take. I will just take what ever I make through out the year there and be like will you accept this? welllll how about this???? Wish me luck that I will win at least one blue ribbon next year and maybe even go to the state fair!!!

I might even make a skirt that is denim on the top and fabric on the bottom!!! I mean heck they have a whole catagory for it!!!

After the fair we went to Cafe Sabor. Where we got some delicious spinach arichoke dip and churros with chocolate and caramel to dip them into... we pigged out...

After that we went home

We also took pictures of ourselves in a Cinderella Coach that we saw at the fair. They are posted on my myspace and facebook
