Over spring break 2013. I baby sat some older kids in Ashburn,VA 

These kids love their electronics.. one of the parent's main goals is to get them OUT OF THE HOUSE.. and DOING SOMETHING

on Thursday she said that I was take them to the pool.. 

I arrived at around 11:40 AM two were in bed.. and two were up.. the two that were up were still in pajamas. I told them to get up and start getting ready because we were going to go to the pool. 

We left at about 12:20 ...  it took me THAT LONG to get them up and they only got up then because I was dropping the thirteen year old off at a friends house first and she screamed at her siblings to GET UP!!!!

Twelve year old Hunter told me that he was "sick" and "did not want to go to the pool"

he was fine before I told him he "had" to go..

I told him "no you ARE going to go to the pool so get our stuff and get ready!!!!"

we arrived at a pool in Sterling called Claude Moore Rec Center.. and it said they had a 350 person limit and well.. I think that they exceeded that...

Corey and Ari got in the pool and started doing their thing...

Hunter was like " I guess I will just read on my Kindle.." I said "why?"

He said "I did not bring my suit,and I don't really want to get in.."

that lasted for less than five minutes.. then he came over to me where I was sitting in the hot tub and said 

" Do you have any scissors"

I was sitting in the hot tub.....


I said " no why?"

He said ..." I just realized that I want to go in and I want to cut off my pants"

I said "well I don't have any scissors BUT...how much trouble do you think that you would be in if you cut off part of your pants??"

He said well.. " a lot.. or maybe a little"

He then went and asked a lifeguard if they had any scissors.. they said that an adult had to ask for them.. I said that I was not going to do that..

I know that he wears boxer briefs so I said "what color underwear do you have on?" he said "black" I said " just wear your underwear.."

so he went in the changing room and came out in a towel.. and then jumped in quick and had me tell him five minutes before break so he could get out quick..

When we were leaving .. I said "Where are all your clothes??" He said that he left them in the changing room...

thank goodness they were still there .. and he did not have to walk out to my car in a towel and wet underwear...

and people think that taking care of big kids is "easier" :)

So on the same day as the previous story... I also had a lot of anticipation for something that I love.. my favorite TV show. 

I love the show Once Upon a Time.. it is currently my favorite show. This night they had been advertising it all week.. because someone was going to die.. and even though we ALL knew it was going to be Cora..

and we secretly HOPED that it would NOT be Hook...

so as the day went on.. I was looking forward to getting back to there house and watching it..

I picked up Hunter who is twelve and Ari who is nine at their dad's house in Vienna then headed back to Ashburn.. I told the kids I am going to watch Once Upon a Time.. you can join me if you want..

they said no..so I get the kids settled and start watching it and Ari comes down and she is like 

"oh no I can not find my mechanical pencil and someone ate my last Twizzler"... 

I said "um OK tell me about it on the commercial... " 

she said " NO THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! I CAN NOT FIND MY MECHANICAL PENCIL AND SOMEONE ATE MY LAST TWIZZLER!..." 

I said "well it can wait until the commercial" 

she was like "but it is IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!" 

I said "OK listen.. I ate your last Twizzler.." 

she said "WHAT!!!?? WHY?? " I said " IDK you left your door open and it was just there like Keli, please eat me.. I am a Twizzler" 

she said "but that was my LAST one!!!!!!!!!!" I said " well I will buy you some more.. but I NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!"

she said "well what about my mechanical pencil?" I said "IDK but you can start looking for it..."

she said "do you think that one of your friends that came to the spa party.. or one of your friends children stole my mechanical pencil"... ???

I said "none of my friend's or their children even went on that floor of the house..."

So she started looking everywhere...

She looked in a drawer.. and found some papers I had stuffed in there while I was cleaning up for the spa party and there was a check in there.. that I knew about ...

She was like "THERE ARE VERY IMPORTANT PAPERS IN THIS DRAWER!!!" I said "OK well I know about them.. I will look at them on the commercial"

she was like " but one of them is a CHECK" I said "yes I know I put it there" she said "YOU JUST STUFFED A CHECK AND IMPORTANT PAPERS IN A DRAWER!!!!!!!!" 

I said "yes.. I did.. but let's talk about this on the commercial..."

because I was about to go CRAZY....

she was like "well I still can not find my mechanical pencil and it is like you are saying that show is more important than me.. and my mechanical pencil" 

I said ..............."well I am ... "

she said "that show is more important than ME." I said "well right now..yes"

she was like "but I can't find my mechanical pencil"

I said "well KEEP LOOKING"

a few minutes later she found it in her back pack....

she was relieved...

and I watched the rest of the show in peace...

the next day two days I had a horrible cold.. and when I picked her up at school both days she said " did you buy my Twizzlers???" 

On the second day, I said " Ari I have a really bad cold and I just am not going to buy you any Twizzlers.. I only ate one.. and well you are just going to have to get over it.."

She said "but you SAID you would" I said " I know..but I only ate one.. and I have a really bad cold.. "

I told her she was just going to have to forgive me.. she was just going to have to think over the situation.. and think of all the good, nice things that I do for her..all the reading we do together.. all the crafts and cooking and other projects all the field trips I have taken her on.. and add up all the good things and then decide if she could forgive me for eating ONE Twizzler.. even though it was her LAST one...

this was at the beginning of March... I am not sure she has TOTALLY forgave me..

Last month while babysitting thirteen year old Lena, I MADE her and her eleven year old brother go for a ride with me to the National Harbor and along the GW parkway stopping at the Theodore Roosevelt island.

I MADE her.. I am so cruel.. might as well be child abuse...

Corey had no issues going... he was like "OK cool"...Lena did not want to go.. 

She was like "I just want to stay here!!!!"I said no.. I am going to be gone for too long and I am being paid to watch you...it took me what felt like an eternity to convince her that she "may" have fun... She was like ..well I don't like 

museums 
statues
hiking
or 
 being outside

so I don't think I want to go...

I said "that she COULD NOT JUST sit around the house and skype with her her friends about One Direction..."

so um..she came and then texted and called her friends and talked about One Direction...

Did I make the right choice in forcing her..???

While we were driving it took us about an hour to get there...she INSISTED that I have on the radio station 99.5..because she thought that they had the highest probability of playing a One Direction song...

Every time a commercial came on and I changed it to 94.7 or 107.3 she was like "HURRY CHANGE IT BACK!!!" I DON'T WANT TO MISS ONE DIRECTION!!!!!" I was like but they play it on these stations too...she was like..well not as MUCH as they play it on 94.7....O.M.GOSH.....

at one point I was trying to back up.. in a tight spot and she was like "HURRY CHANGE IT BACK!!!! I DON'T WANT TO MISS ONE DIRECTION!" I said "no, I can not.. I am driving.. but Josh.. (my friend that was sitting in the passenger seat can) 
She was like "OK just please do it quick"....

all day it was all about One Direction.. ALLLL DAAAAY

like when the DJ talked she about went nuts .. she had a running commentary of talking back to them...

"like um HELLO want to make five million people happy right now??? PLAY ONE DIRECTION!!!!"

and

"I don't get it I seriously DO NOT GET IT.. WHY ARE THEY NOT PLAYING THEM.... ??" 

" WHY HAVE WE BEEN IN THE CAR THIS LONG AND THEY HAVE NOT PLAYED THEM" WHY????

" I am going to text the radio station RIGHT NOW!!!! AND TELL THEM TO PLAY ONE DIRECTION"...

" Corey can you also text the radio station... and tell them to play One Direction"

"How can we have been in the car THIS long and they still have not played them...."

"oh no.. they are NOT playing Taylor Swift again TURN the channel... I am NOT listening to her... she went out with Harry and they broke up.. and I know she is going to write a song about him.. and I am NOT going to listen to her..."

"how can they play SO MUCH TAYLOR SWIFT and not any One Direction...I don't get it??? she is SO ANNOYING and all her songs are about guys she dated and she has dated Harry...and well that is just not cool.. " 

I thought that um because Taylor Swift has a LOT of songs.. One Direction has ONE... well OK two.. but the second one never really took off...

" I bet that if Harry met me... he would want to date me.. because well he said he would date a fan.. and I am a fan.. and I am not THAT much younger than him.., I just can't believe that he wasted his time on someone like TAYLOR SWIFT..when we know that she will write a song about him"

I can not stand when she goes on this tangent.. like you are a young looking thirteen year old and a MINOR and well at this point I have more of a chance of getting Harry than you do...

When we got to The National Harbor she was disgruntled because well... we came all that way and still had not heard them..she spent her whole time there on her cell phone philosophizing about them to her friend.. they are all on a first name basis with these men...

She also is way into this band "Little Mix" they are like a consolation prize to her.. like if the radio can not play One Direction.. could they AT LEAST PLAY LITTLE MIX... HELLO.....???

Little Mix is like a girl version of One Direction...and one of the members of Little Mix Perri..is dating Zayn of One Direction and for this reason Lena has gave up on Zayn because well she is OK with Perri and "she wants him to be happy...

She did not like when I put on 107.3 because they say "mix one oh seven point three.." and then she was like "WHAT MIX...what... omogosh are they going to play Little Mix???? "she was like "they keep on getting my hopes up... "

How dare they...

I heard a song that was sang by woman at one point I said "is this Little Mix?" she said.. "no".. I said "oh well I have not heard this song.. and well I have not heard Little Mix... so I thought it could be"

Later I heard what I thought was another song by women.. I said "is THIS Little Mix.. she said.. "no this is the same song you asked me before if it was Little Mix..."

My bad...

She did not want to get out at the Theodore Roosevelt memorial AND she wanted me to leave the car on with the keys in it because.. well.. WHAT IF THEY PLAYED THEM.. they still had not and she DID not want to MISS THEM...

I said " you know what.." .....NO... just NO....
you have them on your iPhone, iPod, and iPad...and you have their CD and you can look them up on youtube... so NO you are NOT waiting in the car "in case they play them"

SHAKE MY HEAD!!!!!!!! a lot.....

I felt like screaming you know what...
they have also not played

"tonight we are young"
or
"somebody that I used to know"

YOU KNOW WHY...because it is not the spring/summer of 2012 ANY MORE... and those songs are now old...we will hear them sometimes ...but not all the time... the radio station has moved on to new songs...that we hear all the time...

but I have learned from past experiences.. you don't reason with a crazy person.. or in this case a crazed fan..


I have heard One Direction like three times on the radio since this day... and none of those times were on 99.5...

but I have not heard them yet today.... so ...
