Holiday Memorial Day 2011

Memorial Day weekend most of the LDS singles in this area go to Duck Beach. I don't. I talked to a guy in my ward and he said we could go to his house and have a BBQ. I invited some people and they all canceled. That is a good thing because his grill looked like mice had been nesting in it...I had to go buy some food because this guy had none.. he also did not have stuff to cook any food that I bought WITH.. on a positive note my friend Beth came and brought Chris age 10 and Dylan age 8 and they had fun playing chess... Dylan won.. but according to Chris that is just a technicality...

field trip

In May 2011, I took Fletcher age 2 and Desmond age 11 months to Potomac Overlook Regional Park In Arlington, VA.
when we got their we walked to the nature center on a "planet walk" and learned all about different planets.
We also passed an electric car charging station. I have never seen one of those before.
The nature center there was large and had lots of stuff for the boys to touch and look at and explore.
Outside they had a several different areas that were easy to get to with a stroller that we checked out. We even saw a long black snake.
We ate lunch on a playground their that had equipment for grown-ups to exercise on while their kids played.. now that is COOL!
the only non-cool thing about this park is that the GW Parkways has let the trees grow so high that you can no longer see the overlook from Potomac Overlook regional park.. oh well there was so much else to see or do that hardly mattered.. also that trail was NOT stroller accessible..
I would love to go back their with Spike sometime.. or maybe even a DATE and Spike :)

My Amazing Friends

In May 2011, Amy and I went to see Brad Wilcox speak at the Mt.Vernon Stake Center in Alexandria, VA. Amy had heard him speak at an EFY as a teenager and she still remembers how that talk made her feel afterwards she went up and talked to Brother Wilcox and he signed and gave her a copy of his book. I am grateful we went. I am grateful we have wonderful men in the church like Brother Wilcox. I am also grateful for my friendship with Amy! she is AMAZING!

Heidi and Jeremy Oak Marr/Mid-single success story! married May 2011

It's Heidi and Jeremy Freeman married May 2011, Washington DC temple The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Heidi and Jeremy both grew up in this area and were even in the same ward as kids and were at BYU and maybe even BYU ID at the same time but did not meet until the Oak Marr ward. They both overlooked each other because Jeremy thought she was to tall and Heidi thought he was to short. They became activity co-chairs for the mid-singles and hit it off and started having lots of meetings.. and lots of activities, so they went on a lot of group dates.. hahahah. they started dating and then got engaged and got married. I am very happy for this couple! I hope and wish more of us girls and more of the men would follow their amazing example! :)

Field trip

In May 2011, While Zorig was at pre-school I took Buuvei to The Arlington National Cemetary in Arlington, VA. We parked and walked in there were signs saying to be quiet and to not run and to respect that it was a cemetery so I left my money in the car..then I found out they have a GIFT SHOP.. AND I DON'T have a magnet from there..so I will have to go back another time..
kind of a mixed message if you ask me... like be quiet, don't run..be respectful...BUT HEY BUY STUFF FROM US OR GET ON A TOUR BUS HERE!!!!!!
We stopped by and saw The Kennedy graves, JFK, RFK and Teddy. We walked over and went to the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Buuvei LOVES guns so I wanted to take him to that. He really liked it. He told his mom, dad and brother all about it and how the guy went "like this with his shoes" and then would copy what the guard did and copy what he did with his gun. while we were sitting there, Buuvei also put his boot under the railing AND THE GUARD, guarding the tomb SPOKE TO US...he was like MA'AM MAKE SURE ALL OF YOUR SONS BODY PARTS ARE BEHIND THAT RAILING...in front of all the 3000 people there...I was like Buuvei he was talking to you! He wants to make sure your foot is behind the railing! :)
After we saw that we had a nice walk back to the car and drove back to pick up Zorig..
I am still mourning that I did not get a magnet from there that day...My phone and computer are still having picture issues hopefully I will put some on FB later...

Field Trip

In May 2011, I went with Buuvei and his pre-school class to Oxen Hill Farm, in Oxen Hill,MD. It was Buuvei's first time on a school bus. He was VERY EXCITED!
While at the farm, we got to see and pet lots of farm animals and a duck peeked through the fence at one part and bit my and Buuvei's shoe...I said that duck wants to eat your shoe! He thinks that your shoe is FOOD! Buuvei thought that was so funny so he kept saying here duck do you want my shoe.. here it is...come get my shoe! :)
We went in a little farm museum and he climbed on old farm equiptment. We also went in the visitors center and explored in there..
I am sorry I have no pictures to put up with this post. My computer and and phone are having problems with pictures right now.. maybe one day..

In May 2011, I took Buuvei to the National Colonial Farm in Accokeek, MD it is right across the Potomac from Mt. Vernon. It was about 40 minutes from Alexandria, VA. It said on the internet that they have people dressed up in Colonial outfits and a cool visitors center. Those things go on EVERYDAY but Monday's ..somehow I missed that on the website and went on a Monday. We still had a great time walking around and looking at the animals and the scenary.
Buuvei is telling me to look at the cow!

Oops Buuvei was so excited to see that cow, that when he got on the fence it broke.. we fixed it though..

See I told you he was excited!

Buuvei really wanted the sheep to come over so he could pet them.

Buuveibaatar future bull fighter

Buuvei in a tree with the Potomac river in the background

Keli and Buuvei we had a lot of fun walking on this pier and talking to the people that were fishing we saw someone catch something which turned out to be trash..We also could see Mt. Vernon.

Keli's Looks

In May I was looking all over the internet and I saw a hair and make-up tutorial on youtube I wanted to copy. I felt like it looked like I still lived in Utah I called it my "Utah Look" which consited of me teasing my hair and wearing a LOT of make-up. I also for the first time tried fake eyelashes...one of them looked a little off.. They were not that hard once I had the confidence that I COULD DO IT..I bought the kind that had their own adhesive and got some extra just in case.

I have been looking for clothes to do a "Rachel Berry look" or a "Emma Pillsbury look" or a " Quinn Fabray look". I am up for other ideas too :)

field trip

In May 2011 I finished a book about the first ladies by Margaret Truman. I felt like it was a good time to go to The American History Museum and see the first ladies gowns since I had not done that since probably The Reagan Administration. The exhibit was VERY crowded and that was a weekday in May. Some gowns I could not get pictures of there were just to many people. The pop culture exhibit was super crowded too...I had heard that Jerry Seinfeld had donated THE PUFFY SHIRT to the American History museum.. I guess it is not on display right now..that was sad to me. I did like see Fonzie's jacket and the ruby slippers though and since I was reading a book about Theodore Roosevelt's kids at the time it was neat seeing his son Archie's paint set.
This is not her inaugural gown but this did belong to Grace Coolidge

Michelle Obama..I LOVE THIS DRESS!

President and Mrs. Obama
I should go down to DC and just hang out there when he gets re-elected in 2012...

Michelle's dress and her Jimmy Choos. We have a stylish first lady for sure.

modest Laura Bush. love it!

Mamie and Jackie.

Rosalyn's gown is just a LITTLE dated..she caused a stir because she had worn this dress when to something in GA already a few years before..I say YOU GO GIRL! Way to be thrifty!!

Is that J Lo with Betty Ford? No I think it is some Iranian person..Betty's dress is so low cut! RIP Betty Ford. She was very candid and was not afraid to speak her mind.

This paint set belonged to Archie Roosevelt one of Theodore and Edith's sons.

FONZIE'S jacket and part of Minnie Pearls hat.

THE RUBY SLIPPERS!
