random Keli

The other day my boss was wearing some cute boots so I told her.. she said "thank you" and told me that she had gotten that her husband had got them online for her for Christmas. She said that she has a hard time buying shoes because she wears size eleven.. she said that she used to be self-conscious about that when she was  young and would actually buy shoes a couple of sizes to small for her... she said "can you believe that?" I said well yes actually and I told her what I used to do about my eyesight..
I have really REALLY bad eyesight.. REALLY.. like you do NOT understand how bad my eyesight is ...unless you have eyesight as bad as mine which is like TWENTY/THREE HUNDRED... and like -6.75 ish for contacts.. or unless yours is worse..
....and yeah I know maybe I should get lasik..but anyway...
so when I was a young teen I was super scared to TOUCH my eye and put in contacts.. like for some reason touching my eye just grossed me out and I would sit for hours in front of the mirror trying to touch my eye and put on my contacts so I wore my glass.. my big clunky.. large thick glasses with plastic frames..
so when I started going to Chantilly High I was SO EMBARRASSED so I left them off so I would walk around with my eyes really wide so you would not think I was squinting and had bad eyesight...I did things like...
walk in the boys bathroom... a couple times..
say hi to people that were not people..I knew...
I hugged people I did not know....
then I went to Cedar Lane which is a much smaller school and well I could not really get away with doing this stuff..
but I tried..
I even tried to say they were "just reading glasses" like um..yeah..these are "just for reading" I don't really "need them"...of course I don't.. so I would bend over on my paper to do my work and put them on to see the board.. I wonder what the teacher thought ...? she was probably like OK..whatever..
then one day this guy was like "hey coke bottle!" I was like um no you are mistaken these are "just for reading" I don't have bad eyesight" he was like um no those are THICK.. there is NO WAY those are just for reading..
BUSTED..big time..
I had to go home.. get over my fear of touching my eye... and PUT MY CONTACTS IN...
I still to this day have a phobia about glasses.. I have owned some pretty cool glasses .. but when I think of myself in glasses I just see that young teen with frizzy hair and tons of acne THICK LARGE GLASSES...
so I guess there is only one thing to do.. I need to buy some new cool glasses and actually wear them until I realize that I look cute in glasses..
..and well there is another thing too.. I can help any one I come in contact with feel better about him or herself..
I guess the Beatles really were right "all you need is love" ...and cool glasses! :)

volunteering Keli

I just read a 39 page manual about "school life at Sully plantation" that will prepare me to volunteer with field trips in the school room. It was the equivalent or better than some of the manuals I have gotten at some of the trade school classes that I have taken.
here are some of my thoughts observations:
1. I would now love to have a "Wright crest" or whatever it is called to "seal my letters with"  I would even take any last name of someone I am directly related to ..but I would prefer Wright.
2. there are TEN games listed that time and weather permitting we can play with the kids outside, that kids in the past played..I wonder if the kids today of Northern VA could name one game to play outside.. I live in a neighborhood where kids can still play outside but sadly so many places you can't anymore.. which is sad in so many ways.
3. I now know that I need a quill pen and I need to write a letter with one.
I really enjoyed reading about how at Sully at times even the slaves were educated and learning about what the children learned back then. I am looking forward to volunteering in the school room.

field trip

I love the fall! I really do.. so many wonderful things are in the fall!
one of the many things I enjoy doing in the fall is going to fall festivals.
Every year that I am in VA I like to go to Coxes Farm in Centreville,VA it is THE fall festival around here.
One Saturday in October 2011, Will asked me to watch Julian so I decided that this year I was going to try another fall festival, since I have been to Coxes several times.
So Julian and I headed off to Leesburg, VA to the Temple Hall Farm and Corn Maize and Fall Festival.
I paid some exorbitant rate to get in... I looked around and everything cost extra.. and even if it did not cost extra ,was to big for Julian and I was not to interested in chucking pumpkins or blasting corn out of a cannon by myself.. the only thing that did not cost extra was the corn maize.I started walking around that with Julian in the stroller. That got boring really quick. It is not very exciting to walk around in corn during the day with a baby.
I came out of the corn maize and just when I thought all hope was lost, I saw a sign that said CAMEL RIDES.. did I see that right?? CAMEL RIDES!! I have never rode a camel and always wanted to.. and who knew that I only had to go to a fall festival in Leesburg, VA to do so.
I had to pay $5 a piece for Julian and myself ( they told me that they should have charged me extra for him because he was a baby and involved more risk) so we got on the camel and rode around a ring a couple of times.. WE RODE A CAMEL!!!! Julian was not even a year old and he rode a camel! :) afterward I texted his parents and said JULIAN AND I JUST RODE A CAMEL!!!:)
after our camel ride.. I bought one of those big lemonades they sell at places like that with lemons in it.. basically just to see if they were worth the hype, I also got a bag of roasted peanuts.. then Will texted me and said to come on home and I struggled to walk to the car with the stroller, the roasted peanuts and the huge lemonade. I made though..
I feel like it turned out to be a good day :)

OK random fact about me.. I am very feminine in my book choices...like VERY.. for instance in 2011 I read
* every book by Jodi Picoult, who's books are turned into LIFETIME movies often. You can't get much more feminine than that.
* I read the TWILIGHT series... enough said..
* I read a series by Charlaine Harris who also writes for WOMEN..
OK so I read a LOT of other stuff too..but seriously this is a trend with me I read feminine books...
I remember when my friend Chris wanted me to read "the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" BORING
or when Chris and my friend Ryan wanted me to read "enders game" and "the lord of the rings" SUPER BORING..
Ryan wanted me to read "guns, germ and steel" I could not get past the title.. then another time Ryan wanted me to read some book and the words just swam around on the page I can't even remember what it was..
but I will give Ryan some credit.. he has also told me about some GREAT books too.. like
* The Far Pavilions - LOVE THAT BOOK
* Sho-gun-also loved.. it was hard to get into but I loved it..
... and in full disclosure, I have read a few books that I thought were more "masculine" like " North and South" ..but then again that was turned into a mini-series with Patrick Swayze and adored by women like my mom all over the country..
So a few months ago a guy I know named Kevin recommended" The Glass Bead Game" omgosh don't get me started.. BORING.. for real BORING.. like big font bold BORING... but I finished it.. and thanks to my boss Will I realized something..
I read books JUST TO SPITE THESE GUYS!!!! I seriously do...He was like why are you reading that book? if it is SO BORING.. I said I have to because I felt like Kevin made a comment that " it was to academic" or IDK something like that..like " are you understanding this? " or " do you get this?" I knew then that I HAD to finish that book.. for real.. Chris and Ryan have made similar comments to me in the past.. and I almost ALWAYS read and finished those books NO MATTER WHAT.. for real.. like OH NO!....so yeah.. the moral of the story is.. I for the most part like feminine books.. unless I am reading it to "spite some guy"

While baby-sitting for Oliver, Fletcher and Desmond one day in December 2011. Oliver age 5 saw a book of mine that I was reading called "See no Evil" he said "that is a chapter book..I have read a chapter book. What is your chapter book called?" I told him..He inquired, EVIL ?? LIKE EVIL PEOPLE?? I said yes this guy worked for the CIA and he would go around and figure out what evil people were doing and how to stop them from doing that. I then showed him a picture of a building in Beirut that had been bombed and said see this evil people do stuff like that .. and this guy tried to stop them..
Oliver then said to me..  "Did you know that sometimes good women marry evil men?" I said yes I know that. I said where did you learn that? " He said well Queen Amidala, she was a really good woman that married Anakin Skywalker and he turned out to be REALLY EVIL..
BEST INTERPRETATION OF A STORY... EVER...
