We woke up at Danielle's house and went to church.
a couple that just joined the church with their family spoke, I really felt the spirit and I felt like GOOD FOR THE VIRGINIA RICHMOND MISSION and the Salem Ward in The Va beach stake BAPTIZING A WHOLE fAMILY.... mom,dad and three kids....um WOW!!!!....
I have been in Justin's singles ward for the past two weeks and it was nice to not be in a singles ward where every other talk or comment is "well I did not plan to be single this long" or
"be single now" or " this is not how I pictured my life" like NO JOKE... but seriously just be HAPPY where you are NOW....
after church we went over and visited my Aunt Gail, who fed us a yummy lunch of sloppy joes, chips and pickles...
after we left Gail's we drove to Norfolk, Va and walked around there... it was beyond hot but Justin really wanted to check out the town, we walked around in a museum and just walked around and took pictures it was fun. We definitaly want to go back there and do some of the stuff when it is not Sunday.
in Hampton,VA we stopped at a Bass Pro Shop and walked around ANOTHER place to go back and buy stuff when it is not Sunday... I at least need a magnet that says Bass Pro Shop on it...
in Williamsburg,VA we took a free shuttlebus around and talked about all the stuff we will do there when it is not Sunday and not so HOT outside, Justin was like so is Colonial Williamsburg somewhere that you would come back to? like um YES PLEASE!
we drove to Jamestown and drove down a road and saw a ferry, I said lets get on it, it was free, it took us over to Surry,VA and then we just got on and road back. We were able to be on it while the sun was setting it was really nice
we drove home arriving back in Alexandria, VA at around midnight :)
and we are now ready to go visit somewhere else :)
I'm Keli I explore. I create. I believe. sometimes Spike comes with me.

Field Trip Day 2/Holiday(my birthday)
We woke up at Danielle's house and I had been having a contactstraphe... The night before on the way down one of my contacts had gotten so foggy that I could not see to drive, my other eye was pink and stuff was coming out of it.
I went to the Wal-Greens in VA beach and I found some homeopathic stuff to put in your eye for pink eye I put a ton in and IT WORKED! THANK GOODNESS!!
Danielle took me to get some new contacts, the eye doctor aplogized to me for the inconvience of not being able to see when she realized how blind I was :(
while we were gone Justin ate about three more pieces of ice cream cake..
Danielle,Justin and I went down to the ocean front and sat in the sand. I got in the water and had fun, Danielle doesn't really like the ocean she feels it is dirty and Justin is scared to get a sunburn so I was mostly on my own.
Justin had a nice time relaxing while Danielle and I rented bikes and rode them up and down the boardwalk.
we went back to Danielle's and got ready
that night, Danielle, Justin and I went to a restaraunt on the oceanfront called Isle of Capri. It is on the top floor of a Holiday Inn. We drove up to the hotel and were valeted parked then rode up in the elevator that had windows where you could see the ocean, to the 6th floor. we were seated overlooking the ocean.
Our waiter Ryan made us Ceaser Salad right at the table for us which was AMAZING!!! Justin scraped the dressing off the plate:)
we got free bread
Danielle got she-crab soup, which I now want to make very soon
Justin got pork medallions which were delicious
I got lobster ravioli SO GOOD!!! :)
for dessert they brought me a HUGE piece of cake with a candle in it.
what a great BDAY!!!!
afterwards, we took Justin to get some souveniers and went back to Danielle's
where Justin had another slice of icecream cake...:)

Field Trip Day 1
For my birthday this year, I wanted to go to the beach :)
I got off work at 2pm then drove to Alexandria to pick up Justin. I thought that was a smarter idea because he lives right off 95.
I went to my house and got my stuff together and was out the door by 3:10
I sat in traffic on 495
when I finally picked up Justin,
we sat in traffic on 95.
It took us about five hours to get to VA beach it should take 3 hours and 45 minutes....
we went to Danielle's and ate an amazing B-day dinner that Danielle had made,
bacon cheeseburgers-she even got all the toppings that Justin and I liked
sweet pototo fries
devilled eggs
and for dessert ICE CREAM CAKE FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!! :)
I have great friends:)
Justin and I went down to the boardwalk and walked around and saw what there is to see down there
then went back to Danielle's and went to sleep.

Field Trip day 2
I woke up at FIVE AM!!!! the sun was beaming down into my tent, I saw the time and went back to sleep several times, until I went over to see what was up with breakfast, since this was a ward activity for the Crystal City ward, we only had to pay 20$ and all the food was provided. They were making egg burritos with red pepper and onion.
I DO NOT LIKE ONIONS
Justin does not like peppers.
so I waited and waited and waited while they made like four batches of those for them to make a plain batch,After breakfast everyone was on their own, they had bag lunchs that you could pack but other than that you could do whatever.
there were several little less than a mile flat hiking trails that you could go on, I did not do any none of them looked very exciting.
I went to the visitor center and got a magnet... OF COURSE...
Justin got ready and we headed down to the beach, they have a guarded man-made beach there.
the water was warm, and you could swim out in 20-30 feet water and go down to a slide that was on a platform, guarded by a lifeguard... that was a bit scary but VERY COOL!!!! Justin and I swam and played around for a long time before anyone else even showed up, we hung out with the group some... and then we rented a peddle boat and peddled it to the other side of the lake and back... that was all right, I thought it was going to be a lot more fun than it was, but it was a LOT OF WORK...,which is good because I had eaten six pieces of bacon that morning..
after the beach, Justin and I drove about a half hour to the other side of the lake where it is like a resort, they have a really nice hotel over there and tons of restaraunts and mini-golf where you go through a western town, an arcade and lots of other fun things to do, we went in several stores and we are both upset that we did not buy a shirt that says Smith Mountain Lake.
we drove back and took a nap then hung out with the group and chilled and talked,
then went to everyone went to bed
except Russell and that girl who stayed up all night talking again... but this time not over by us...

Field Trip Day 1
This weekend Justin convinced me to go camping with the Crystal City ward at Smith Mountain Lake, in Huddleston,VA... it is only about a 6 hour drive away...
Justin got to my house after six PM because of all the traffic. We gave another guy Mike a ride down. I had never met him before and lucky for me he was really nice.
according to Justin's GPS we took 66 to 81 then drove through several small towns
Justin got pulled over in one, because he was weaving, he said I was just looking at my GPS, she did not even give him a warning she just said have a good night.
after the small towns we had to also drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway which was ALL SWITCHBACKS and NOT COOL TO DRIVE ON in the middle of the night in the dark...I had to pull over and get Justin to drive the rest of the way there..
when we got to the campground, there were a lot of people there we had a spiritual thought.
we sat up our tent, Russell sat up a hammock right by our tent, we drive six hours and Russell is still right beside us.
Justin and I went to sleep, I think everyone else went to sleep,Russell and a girl named Grace stayed up all night talking. THIS GiRL CAN TALK MORE THAN ME.... and who thought that was possible....!

ME
Spike and I went for a walk recently and found the remnents of a treehouse which got me thinking about treehouses.
When I was growing up one of my fondest dreams was a treehouse but not just any treehouse, a REALLY COOL ONE!!! ( you know what I mean, one that has a trapdoor and windows with curtains..all that stuff)
the left over parts that we found were just some boards nailed to a tree and some left over pieces of wood.I thought who were these kids that made this, and where are they now? and do kids even want to make treeshouses any more?
When I was a kid my cousins and I spent a lot of time at my grandmas in Vienna,VA my grandpa always had extra wood and let us use any of his tools that we wanted I remember spending HOURS with my cousins Jason and Scott nailing pieces of wood to various tree branchs and attempting to make some form of treehouse. I remember once Scott and I even found a spare piece of glass and some extra carpet and thought we would be really enterprising... my grandma said that we could not play with a large piece of glass though..
It seemed like we were always building or re-building some form of treehouse, in restrospect most of them were just pieces of wood nailed to trees, that I don't even think that a hunter would have been comfortable sitting on.
My cousin Scott also lived in Vienna and his dad built him a SUPER COOL treehouse it had a trap door and a rope ladder and another ladder that was on the tree that you could go up it was awesome! I wonder if it is still there of if it just rotted and fell apart?
I begged and begged my dad to build me a tree house he always always ALWAYS said... no. He said we did not have a good enough tree, even though in my kid mind ALL of them were good enough..I also did not realize that my dad was not the treebuilding dad type we never had extra wood or tools laying around- we always had extra sporting equiptment laying around... and still do but that is another story for another day..
my grandpa built us an awesome treehouse but not the traditional kind, there were three LARGE pine trees in their backyard and Poppy cut out under them and made a secret door, you would lift up part of the trees and then you were in our play area ... all under the trees he had cut the branches and then we had this playhouse, he put a sandbox in there, and he stored all of the bikes that him and Granny got at second hand stores and fixed up for us and he had swings in there and lots of other stuff. It was awesome and a HUGE part of my childhood..My cousins and I spent SO MANY HOURS climbing in those trees and playing under them...
I miss those simple days.... I would LOVE for my own kids to have a tree house but it is a harder goal than one might think... because 1. you have to own a house 2. you have to own a house with the right kind of tree, which my dad was right you have to have the right tree....
3. you have to know what you are doing... or have the money to hire someone...
my kids may not have a treehouse, because the house I own one day might not have the right tree on the property but they will have some sort of awesome outdoor play area so one day they too can look back and have awesome memories of playing in the backyard. :)

Field Trip
Justin,Spike and I went to Belle Haven Marina in Alexandria,VA today and had a picnic.
We drove about five minutes from his house and there we were on the Potomac River with AMAZING views of The National Harbor. We found a picnic table in a shady area and had our picnic of
swiss and colby cheese, Ritz crackers, chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling cider.
after the picnic Justin took a nap and I went for a walk with Spike and checked on boat rental prices because Justin wants to go back there sometime and rent a boat or a kayak or a canoe.
I came back and found Justin still resting.
We then went back to his house and hung out there for awhile, before I had to leave to go and baby-sit.
When I was preparing for my picnic. I was a bit distraught for several reasons
1. In Utah I had a super cute picnic basket with plates, utensils, all that stuff in it
2. I had SO MANY COOL GLASSES we could have drank that sparkling cider out of it...
3. I had SO MANY CUTE COOL BLANKETS that Justin could have been laying on...
I am sad I DONT HAVE ALL MY STUFF... and that I had to give away all my stuff or most of it or sell it... I JUST REALLY REALLY HOPE THAT SOMETHING HERE is worth giving away/selling/ loosing all that stuff it took me thirty-five years to acquire..
I was having those thoughts when different thoughts came to my mind.
1. I am glad I am alive after my car accident and that Spike is alive those things are worth ALL MY STUFF
2. I only used that picnic basket ONE time in TEN years in Utah.
3. I used those glasses a lot like everytime that all my regular glasses were dirty, I used those other ones.
4. I used that blanket ALL THE TIME the prime picnic blanket I used that a lot...
I guess what I am trying to say is that I miss Utah I miss my stuff... BUT I am so so SO GRATEFUL I am here...
and I will finish this later

field trip
plan A: go mini-golfing with Justin
plan B: Justin said he would rather go to a driving range
Justin then says he has to go to some activity.
plan C: go mini-golfing with Victoria :)
plan D: include shopping in this plan!!!:)
I have fallen IN LOVE with Plato's closet. It is a consignment store about five minutes up the road from my house in Chantilly,VA. They have super cute brand-name clothes and shoes and purses for GREAT PRICES!!! They also always have shoes in my size, cute shoes all ready broken in buy someone else... awesome..so this week I introduced Victoria to Plato's closet
I bought
a new pair of gold and silver heels
a really cute goldish Banana Republic shirt
a really cute silver shirt that LOOKS like it is from J Crew even though it is not
some super cute plaid shorts
the cool thing is the shirt is extra small and for some reason fit me, the uncool thing is the pants are a size nine and barely do....
Victoria got a pair of super cute heels and a couple of sundresses.
Justin now says he wants to go to Plato's closet.. maybe I should check and see if there is one closer to him.
after our shopping trip, we headed down to Oakton,Va to the rec center where I am taking my current swimming lessons because they have a mini-golf course there. We got there twenty minutes to late to play, BUT I asked if we could play anyway... ???BUT we thought maybe lets just go get some ice cream.
Since we were all ready in Oakton I thought why not just go on to Vienna the next town and go to a custard shop that I heard was really cool and owned, ran and complety staffed by LDS people. We drove into Vienna and the custard shop is in an old part of town we parked the car and went into this packed custard shop. They also said they had FAMOUS funnel fries which is like a funnel cake but fries instead. We ordered some fries and some ice cream. we were both very pleased with the food there. When we were done eating we went for a walk down the street. We passed so many interesting looking stores that I cant even write about them, you may be jealous... we walked around a park that had a train in it and climbed up on the train.
Then we walked down a dark street with a few more shops on it. That street has got to be one of the most interesting streets I have ever been on ...ever...here are some of its features
1. above a dentist office there were guys doing in their apartment doing kareoke..
2. we then passed what at first we thought was a bar, it had a flag up for a sign and it was a black skull with a hot pink background, all the walls were painted bright pink and it had no door like you just open a garage type door and there you go..there were a few tables there and the menu was written with chalk on a fish shaped chalkboard.
3. we passed some people in an art class drawing people dressed as hula dancers
4. we then passed something that may have been a raccoon or maybe a dog and decided to head back
I had not had enough of that street though, I was like I HAVE TO GO BACK IN MY CAR... that place is just to interesting I mean it looks like they have Italian sodas and I just don't get why a bar would have Italian sodas??? so when we concluded our walk we drove back.
when we got back,I saw someone outside the art class he told me that it was a coffee shop that also sold Italian sodas and the art class is run by someone named "Dr. Sketchy" who I am not sure for reals has a doctorate..The guy told us it was an "anti-art" class as in you can talk during it and it is not stuffy..I looked up this whole operation online. Dr. Sketchy has all kinds of art classes and things offered and has italian sodas and coffee for sale... so now I kind of want to go back and have an Italian soda because I LOVE THOSE!
we have FHE in that area sometimes and on the website it is open until 1am every night so maybe some night after FHE we could go get Italian Sodas if anyone is brave enough to go to Dr. Sketchys with me. :)

field trip
last weekend Spike and I drove to Springfield, VA and went to a park called Hidden Meadows. When I drove up to the park, I realized OH MY HECK I have been here before... Danielle, Vanessa and Deondre went there once when the kids were really little and the stroller broke and well it is best not to relive that day.
this park is right off Fairfax County Parkway about 20 minutes from my house. It has two parks, a basketball court, some sort of field that you can play some sort of sport in, a really cool nature center, and the best of ALL a great pond that you can walk around and endless trails that you can take! I would have spent a lot more time exploring this park, but there was a storm brewing and I had CRAMPS :( ( I am just proud I got OUT) so I after walking around the pond and walking a little bit more I went home. While I was there, I saw a family of geese, four deer and two turtles, none seemed scared of me or Spike.
two interesting things
1. we walked out on a little dock and Spike tried to drink some water and fell in because the dock was a bit unstable. It was a bit comical..
2. When I was leaving I saw some people walking down the road and the guy was wearing a kilt and the girl was wearing pink thigh high socks... that was interesting too..
so that is my day at Hidden Meadows Park in Springfield,VA
this park is right off Fairfax County Parkway about 20 minutes from my house.

I would love to post a really cute picture right now of me and my friends baby Emily but I am on a Mac right now at the house I am babysitting at and it is amazing that I am even able to do this.. the page is getting all crazy and I am having a hard time scrolling up and down...so moving on :
Memorial Day Weekend 2010~
most of the LDS mid-singles from my area went to Duck Beach, I did not... various reasons... I went on the ghost tour, I watched "John Tucker Must Die with Beth and Alex and on Memorial Day itself, I went to the cemetery and put flowers and flags on graves and that is what I am going to tell you about.
My friends Rob, Erin and Emily Cowles met me at my house and we drove into Loudoun County we passed through Aldie, VA which has an old mill that I would love to go to and take pictures and some old shops it would be fun to browse through. On the return trip we stopped at a market there and got some delicious BBQ sold to us by an Indian man he said that if I looked him up on Trip Adviser that I would see that his place got all four and five stars... I thought wow... um so do most of the places I go lately...
so we are driving past HUGE ESTATES in Loudoun Country and according to the directions on google maps we were supposed to turn on "Jeb Stuart Rd" we did and it was a narrow gravel road that I was a bit scared to drive my Blazer down because I had no idea what would happen if someone came the other way. We passed a sign that said that there may be high water on the road and if there was it may be unpassable. so we are driving when all of a sudden we are at a SMALL RIVER... there was a guy there with an old time camera and to girls in old time bathing suits posing for pictures, I asked if I could drive my blazer through it and he said sure if I drove through really fast and didn't mind if it came up to my doors... I thought well I consider myself adventurous and a wanna- be country girl but I am not adventurous enough to want to drive my Blazer through door deep water, even if I was driving really fast. The guy was nice enough to help me back out and give me better directions to the cemetery since google maps did not mention that one of the roads had a river in the middle of it.
we arrived at the cemetery and besides being VERY HOT and HUMID it was a nice day. I put flowers on my grandparents graves, and my great-grandparents, and my great-great grandparents grave, I put flowers on my great-aunts and uncles graves and my second cousins graves and my third cousins and great-great aunt and uncles graves. I put a flag on my second cousins grave that died in Iowa Jima, I put a flag on a lady that served in WW2 and just died in the 2000s and had no flag, and I put a flag on my great-great grandpas grave even though technically it should have been a rebel flag. The last time I went to this cemetery I was with Kumen and it was raining and we could not find my great-great grandpas grave so I am happy that I was able to find it this time.
on the way back home I stopped at a little stand and bought a really cute cactus plant for Justin's apartment and some duck eggs that the guy convinced me to buy then I was to scared to try them and they are still sitting in my house. I love the country and miss it so much. It was a really nice day with Rob and Erin and baby Emily.
I am grateful for the people that served our country and helped make this the land of the free and the home of the brave. I am grateful for my ancestors and who they were and I look forward to the day when we are all linked together in one family chain. I am grateful for temples and family history work and for the amazing feeling to know that while walking around that cemetery I HAVE DONE THE WORK FOR EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY MY ANCESTORS THAT IS BURIED THERE! :) Families can be together forever with Heavenly Fathers Plan I always want to be with my own family and the Lord has shown me how I can.... :).... My family is not perfect but they are mine and again I am grateful I did the work for them... still preparing most carefully so I can marry in Gods temple for ETERNITY and have my OWN forever family:)
