stuff
stuff
I recently have been cleaning out my moms shed and I found a piece of paper with "scrapbook ideas" for a 1994 wedding..so when i got married I would have some ideas of what to put in the scrapbook hahahahhhahaha! that was my LIFE GOAL to get married when I was NINETEEN...and I was NOT EVEN LDS YET!!! what the?? so I googled some pictures ..of what could have would have been..
So I don't know WHEN or WHERE or IF I will get married BUT if I AM FOURTY when I get married I AM SO GETTING MARRIED here in the SLC temple because it took FOURTY YEARS TO BUILD :) |
So I can't fast forward ANOTHER ten years because then I would be 40 and it would be 2014 and I am SO NOT ready to be FOURTY!!!??? I dont think I will get married in 2011..which is a SHOCK with all the GOOD LUCK I have been having with guys lately...but if I did it would be in the winter I guess..and I sure I would wear a modest dress...BUT can't you imagine me making me make the photographer take pictures of me places LIKE THIS!!! and I love this dress..it just needs a modesty redo..so if I got married THIS year.. I would probably choose the Logan temple. I am sorry DC but IDK I went through a lot in Cache Valley and I would like to come full circle and get married there... |

St.Patricks Day 2011 part one
I bought this at a thrift store in Chantilly,VA brand name: Pampered Chef..it was VERY CHEAP..! |
So Elaine and I dyed a cake mix green and made these for a St.Patricks Day dance we went to. |
here is a close-up of a rose shaped one |
here is a close-up of whatever shape this is. |
for these reasons
1. the brand name is Pampered Chef I know that they have good quality stuff..and if their stuff at the thrift store for cheap, I snatch it up.
2. how can I pass up something that cute for only a $
The answer is ... I can't... So I bought it..it is is made out of that plastic stuff that you can put in the oven that was super trendy a few years ago.
Elaine and I had decided to go an "over 30s" dance in MD and we needed to bring something festive. Elaine made some AMAZING huge cupcakes. She also helped me make these since it was close to St. Patricks Day we dyed a cake mix green and then just baked it in the oven..we greased it really good and they did not really have any problems coming out of the mold at all.
We then put some powdered sugar on them and put them in cupcake wrappers to make them look cute.
so to re-cap:when you are at thrift stores look for brand names..Pampered Chef has great quality stuff.
to make these we just dyed a cake mix green, you can dye it whatever holiday or color you want to theme it around.
That is about all..I will admit the clean up was NOT the easiest it took awhile to dig all of that extra cake out of the crevices..but totally worth it for the effect of these cute cakes :)
Happily Ever After.wmv
I love this talk and I think that it is a good reminder to all of us that sandwiched between the Once Upon a Time and The Happily Every After tht we ALL FACE ADVERSITY!!!!!

game
This is a MARVELOUS game I got at the thrift store in Chantilly called Old Bachelor ...a 90s version of Old Maid in reality a FEMININE version of Old Maid...which as we all know is WAY sexist...cause you know when you were a kid NO ONE WANTED TO GET STUCK WITH THE OLD MAID...and I guess that is true because NO ONE HAS DRAWN MY CARD! even when I have stuck "my card UP above all the others in HOPES that SOMEONE will DRAW IT!! and therefore be "stuck with me" NO ONE NOT EVEN THEN!!!!
so this game has a bunch of women and one old bachelor all of the women have typical "man jobs" there is:
Fannie the firefighter... I have never met a female firefighter..but my male boss is one..
Josephine the judge- I have had a female judge...and I see them on Law and Order all the time.
Kitty the veterinarian-I took Spike to a girl one the other day and my last boss was a girl one.
Sue Chef-there are women those all over the place...
Sally Stockbroker-not sure what that is so I might know a girl one
Mariko the mechanic-I met a girl mechanic in Alexandria once.
Consuelo the cardiologist- I hope I never ever meet one of those unless it is personally ..but lots of women drs out there
Rita the rock and roller- lots of girl rockers
Mayor Meyer- I am sure there are lots of girl those too
Phyllis the physicist-I have only met two of those both boys
Primrose the plumber- I had girl one in UT once
Stella the stage manager- I am sure that there are lots of girl those
Colleen the carpenter-IDK if I know ANY girl those
Tess the taxi driver-I only know foreign men that drive taxis around here
Rose the gardener- I am sure there are lots of girl those
Bertha the ballerina- one of my roommates in Provo was a ballet dancer
Paloma the painter-lots of girl artists
Edna the editor -lots of girl those I even KNOW some
Una the umpire -my aunts roommate Bettie does that
Ann the archaeologist- there were a lot of girls in Indiana Jones classes...
and that is all...and to make the game even MORE politically correct they are all different ages and nationalities...
you know what would be cool if someone ONE day picked my card and I could add to it
Keli- the stay at home mom It would be a blondish girl in her 30s... (I hope) with super cute kids on the card...
I have MANY candidates of who could be another old bachelor card...
also in this picture you see the new color of my moms walls and does that cedar chest need to be re-covered or WHAT?? now THAT is what I call DATED!

Story
I only have weird talents...it is true...one of them is to be able to go into thrift stores and find super cute stuff for myself and for my friends. Another is to find homes for things that need homes and I mean THINGS not things that are alive...just things...when I lived in Utah most of the things I got rid of went straight to my friend Doddie or my friend Shelli... I also bought copious amounts of cute baby clothes for several of my friends .. I just like doing this stuff ..I guess I have weird hobbies too?
So I was at my friend Clay's house a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that he had a bike sitting in his entryway. I asked him about it and he said that he needed to get rid of that. I said that I would do that for him since I have an SUV and well he doesn't ...He said well nobody will want it.. I said oh no I guarantee SOMEBODY will want it..or I will drop it off at a thrift store or throw it in a dumpster...So I took the bike he gave me the pedals and said that they needed to be screwed back on and that the brakes needed to be fixed..I took the bike to work with me the next day.
Zorig and Buuvei live in a neighborhood where there are always people walking down the street.
I asked some Mexican guy if he wanted it and he said yes .. I said well come and get it then... then I realized he did not speak English...So I loaded the boys up to take them to pre-school and I said When we get home we will make a sign for that bike that says "free bike" and then we will ask all the guys that walk by if they want it. Zorig said well girls like green too! ( the bike was green) I said I understand that but the bike is for boys .. so all the way to pre-school they were shouting out the window DO YOU WANT A FREE BIKE!!!?? to anyone and everyone walking down the street...which in Buuvei's case came out sounding something like heyyawannafeebiiiiiiiike!!!?? I kept saying NO NOT RIGHT NOW!!! the bike is not with us..when we get home! ..after nap...
So I posted on my FB that I was getting rid of the bike..then my friend Cherie called and I told her the story..she said I WANT THAT BIKE!! she said she knew how to fix the brakes and screw the pedals back on ..So I took it to her and gave it to her at FHE that night..easy peasy. I took that bike from Clay's at like 10:30 pm...got rid of it by 9AM
no one should ever underestimate my ability to "redistribute" things! :) IT IS ONE OF MY WEIRD TALENTS!!!
on a side note...Zorig was a bit put out that I gave the bike away while he was at pre-school so he made Cherie a card that said To: Cherie From: Zorig- free bike.. he took Clay and I right out of that equation.!:)

Field Trip
the line outside Sprinkles Cupcake Washington DC |
a box from Sprinkles |
The bag from Sprinkles |
cinnamon sugar cupcake from Sprinkles. |
Chocolate PB cupcake |
We only waited twenty minutes in line at Sprinkles. The girls in Sprinkles were VERY FRIENDLY and seemed like they wanted to be our lifelong friends. Ambur and I enjoyed our time there a lot better and I thought the cupcakes from there were better.
Some people have asked me WAS IT WORTH IT!!?? or have commented I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU STOOD IN LINE FOR SO LONG!!! I replied.. yes it was worth it .. it is all about the experience.. and it was a nice time catching up with Ambur and right now in our lives we are not dating anyone.. so there was no one we had to rush home too and I did not have to feel like I had DRUG some guy there and it was nice not having to entertain kids while we waited in that long line...so was it worth it..heck yeah!!! I have also since then checked out another cupcake place BUT you will have to wait on that one ..because I have a lot of other things to write about before then..so again while you are waiting check out Sprinkles website!:

Georgetown Cupcake day!!! March 2011.
In March 2011 I was able to persuade my friend Ambur to go to Georgetown Cupcake with me in Washington D.C. cupcakes are ALL the craze around here..it seems like almost every shopping center you pass has a cupcake place. Georgetown cupcakes though has it's own reality show DC cupcakes and therefore has a line a mile long.. I remember once driving by it with Justin on his motorcycle it was cold and drizzling rain. there was a long line that night. I said what is that?? He said Georgetown Cupcake there is always a line..it is famous.. I knew then ... I MUST GO BACK!!!! The day Ambur and I went it was great weather, we found a parking spot on the street and paid to park.
Ambur went to save us a space in line while I took pictures.
While we were in line...some people left.. and at one point a lady came by that worked there and gave us a menu.
When we finally got inside they hurried us through ..they were very efficient... I got a chocolate PB flavored one..and a salted caramel one.. they were put in the super cute pink box above ..there was no where for us to sit and we had stood in line for so long that we needed to go and feed our meter.. so we put our cupcakes in the car and headed out to ANOTHER cupcake place..which I will write about soon. While you are waiting for me to do that... check out their website http://www.georgetowncupcake.com/

field trip
The George Washington Masonic Memorial Alexandria, VA
I took Buuvei on a field trip to visit the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Alexandria, VA. We went in the morning while Zorig was at pre-school.
When we got there it was not open yet. even though it was cold and windy Buuvei and I walked all the way around the memorial and went up and down the stairs and counted them.
We were let in five minutes late and the person that let us in said "wow you guys are early" I said that we got there when the website said that it opened.
The girl giving the tour that told me that she is not a Mason said that she was supposed to start the tour right then but since the only people there to take the tour were Buuvei and myself that she wanted me to wait 15 minutes just to see if anyone else would show up.
I went in the gift shop and bought a magnet and the lady in there told me part of her life story, she thought that Buuvei was very cute and asked me about his name origin I said that he is Mongolian and I am his nanny. she said that maybe her daughter should be a nanny ...because she doesn't really like her job but the only problem is that her daughter likes animals more than kids and then she was telling me all about her daughters pets................... I was enthralled...
somehow I was able to tear myself away from that and say to the girl that was supposed to be giving us a tour can we please start because the Internet said the tour was at this time and I need to pick his brother up from pre-school. She said that she guessed. I don't even know why I rely on what places websites say anymore.. because people just do whatever they want at these places...
The first room we went was a replica of what a Masonic lodge looked like in George Washington's time. She said that George Washington was a mason but that he was not super active in it..She said he was to busy running the country..I guess all those other presidents that WERE active Masons were not that busy?? Another couple on vacation from MI joined our tour then.. I bet that girl was happy.
We saw some interesting stuff in that room like the actual clock that was in the room when George Washington died and they stopped it at the EXACT time that he died... I don't know how they wrestled that out of the hands of the Mount Vernon ladies association..We also saw a chair that George Washington actually sat in and used when he was a Mason. There was an old Masonic lodge somewhere else in Alexandria and it burnt to the ground but they were able to rescue this whole room of furniture and set it up there exactly like it was at that other one ( which is the one George Washington attended) I am super confused by this?? like so was it a slow burning fire??if you could rescue a whole room of furniture maybe you should have put the fire OUT!!! They said that we could not sit in that chair that George Washington sat in because it is reserved for the Grand Dragon or something like that and one year a VERY FAT grand dragon sat in that chair and he BROKE it so they had to have it repaired and they reinforced the legs...
the next room we went into had some large paintings of George Washington and how he laid the cornerstone for the Washington Monument in a masonic ritual and the other one I forgot what it was. They also had a HUGE statue of George Washington that Buuvei was scared of at first I said that he did not need to be scared because it was George Washington and he was our president. The girl told us that they built this memorial to Masonery and George Washington entirely debt free and that they did not have enough money to get that statue in until after they had built the columns and it is a miracle that they got it in.
We then went up in an elevator that was very narrow because when you look at the building it gets narrow so the elevator shaft was accommodating.
We went into another room where they had all sorts of exhibits like there was not enough money to have a state funeral for George Washington when he died so he was just in his coffin for like 30 years and when they did have enough money and they chopped that coffin up and made another one and when they did that the guy that demolished the first coffin wanted to make some money so he sold off the wood and there were things like little pins that you could wear made of the coffin wood and other macabre things..While the girl was telling us about the things in that room Buuvei was running around and bumped his head on a display case and it started bleeding... I had nothing with me but a tissue that I had been using to wipe his nose earlier and had to use that I applied pressure and prayed and he was OK! and we continued the tour Buuvei is such a brave little boy!! There was another room where it was a little medieval looking chapel where they had a couple of knights and they were saying that you can rent that room out to have a wedding..it looks like where you would have a wedding if you were really goth or something.
we then went up to the top floor and looked around up there the tour guide girl did not want to go outside because she said that it was to cold and windy and that she "forgot her jacket" she later confided in me that she just liked to claim she forgot her jacket that is what she told people so she just didn't have to go outside. The other couple went outside and we did brave Buuvei ran all the way around that cold windy top..so I now know he has no fear of heights.
When the tour was done we were able to look around other rooms open to the public.
We looked in a concert hall, Buuvei plays the cello so he thought that was cool. We looked at an exhibit of different presidnts that were Masons the last one to be a Mason was Gerald Ford and Bil Clinton was as a kid but did not follow through as an adult. I asked if Barak Obama had been there. The girl said no but she would give him the tour if he came.. I doubt it I think they would get a Mason and try and convert him.. They also told me that Kramer from Seinfeld is a Mason and Brad Paisley is too..
We went into a room dedicated to the Shriners that Buuvei LOVED they had this little parade thing that you pushed a button and you got to see a diorama of a little parade go around and around. There was a little car that he could climb in and there was a wheel chair that you could get in and go over different kinds of terrain and go up a hill and knock on a door Buuvei loved that exhibit!
We left when we had to go pick up Zorig from pre-school.
here is the website http://gwmemorial.org/index.php it cost 5$ for me to go to the top, Buuvei was free. and because here is a Mason here is my favorite Brad Paisley songs.

story
During Sunday School on Sunday we talked about "how I was blind but now I see" it reminded me of a story from my mission. I served in the California Ventura Mission 99-01. While I was there I served with Elder Tommy Draschil in one of my areas he was my zone leader and told me this story. He said that when he was nineteen he went into the MTC and was there for a couple of days then he just thought you know what I don't know if I want to do this I don't even know if I want to be LDS.. He lived in Provo a couple of blocks from the MTC so he just walked out of the MTC and walked home.. I guess nothing as dramatic as those stories you hear of people jumping the fence or pushing their companion away and RUNNING...Elder Draschil just simply walked away from the MTC his mission and his religion..He said he went home took off his sacred religious clothes and went about living what he thought was a happy life ... He did this for about three or four years over the course of time he realized he was not happy... so one day he decided to pray and ask Heavenly Father what he should do.. he went up into the moutains and prayed with all his heart. He said he was up there for awhile when he came down he knew what he needed to do. He went to his bishop and started preparing to go on a mission. He got called to the exact same mission as he had been called when he was nineteen he was now about twenty-three or twenty-four. This time he did not leave the MTC and he served an AMAZING mission. He was a great zone leader and one of the highlights of my mission. He said to me Sister Wright, I was blind.. I thought I know what was to be happy but I was not happy... he said but now that I am living the gospel.. I really see..I was blind but now I see.. I am grateful that as a nineteen year old boy that he knew then that he did not have what it takes to serve a mission. I am also glad that when the time came, he was able to put right in his life what he needed too and serve a mission with all of his heart mind and strength.. Having a testimony of the gospel and living it is essential to our progression. May we all strive to be who we really are and live as Heavenly Father wants us to live and have the courage to repent and change to become that amazing person that Heavenly Father already knows that we are.

craft
I made this "book page wreath" in Feb. 2011. here is what I did,
I bought a wreath form at Michaels. Then I went to the thrift store in Chantilly and got a couple of books that I was not to embarrased to buy... some of those books were so stupid I would not mind ripping them up BUT I didn't want to buy them hahhaha. I then drove to Elaines and spent HOURS ripping out three pages at a time then drawing spirals on the pages then cutting out the spirals on the pages...then wrapping the spirals into rosebuds...THEN glueing it onto the wreath form.. I had so many burns after awhile Elaine's roommate Amy helped me and I was SO GLAD... I ran out of books but still was not done..I went home and the next day demolished several of my moms romance novels that no one should read EVER..and finally I felt like my wreath was done..then I hung it up.. and saw some bare spaces ... so IDK I guess it still needs some work the ribbon needs to be cuter and maybe some spray paint where it is bare...I will get around to that SOMEDAY...!
I bought a wreath form at Michaels. Then I went to the thrift store in Chantilly and got a couple of books that I was not to embarrased to buy... some of those books were so stupid I would not mind ripping them up BUT I didn't want to buy them hahhaha. thrift store find
yesterday I tried out a thrift store I had never been to before in Manassas, VA... I got an amazing suit that I will post a picture of soon AND this cool deck of CUPCAKE CARDS!!! I should post more indepth pictures but this is good for now..it comes with 24 cards..I guess that 25th one was just to good to let go..each card opens up to reveal directions, tips and ideas. I think that now I need to have a cupcake day! I am going to give these to Elaine, but I am sure she will let me look at them to make something.

My friend Dorsietta was nice enough to take this picture of me when I went to the Potomac Ward in Feb. for their potluck... I wanted to write a post about it because this is ALL from the thrift store

purse: I don't want to admit this BUT I got this purse at Wal-Mart I was DESPARATE for an outfit one time when I was stuck at Justin's and had nothing to wear to an event and then he was like WHY DONT YOU HAVE A PURSE!!!! all girls have purses... so I got this one for like 5$ since it is from Wal-Mart it fell apart...which let that be a lesson to all that store is a joke...and should not be shopped at...ever... I have since given that purse TO a thrift store...
